Hi, im looking for some answers on why my speeds are so inconsistent. Im going to use this example. Updating a game on my Pc. 120gb update, nearly 3hr pass and games just hit 74%. (m350) package. I can see the speeds that the download is using while its progressing. ill put some photos below also. But why is this the case. Nothing else in the house is being used. ive got a ring doorbell. all phones/devices ive turned wifi off. And currently no ones streaming or using internet any other way. This seems to be a very common issue for myself, when i first got VM the first 4 weeks was great. updates flying through no issues etc. im adamant once your passed that cooling period of walking away they tweak something. in 18 months ive had 6 engineers visit, everythings been changed. its soil destroying. so id like some advice . When i run the speed tests i see 50/70download speed. But VM tests show its running fine. Please help

I noticed, and I think it's the inconsistency that's the problem.

ive checked a couple things also- my 2.4hz split and 5hz are getting majorly different wifi speeds. if my 5hz is getting 380mb 2.4 is gettin 32mb why is the hard wired pc struggling so much? its a fairly high end system so not sure i can blame the equipment.

Have you used the VM app to see what speed the router is seeing? Have you tried other devices to see what speed they are also receiving?

Hi Ash, Thanks for the reply. my 3 wired connections are as follows. Xbox console 1m cable, Pc 1m cable. Sky tv 10m cable. The 2 cables for console and pc are cat6 i believe , sky is a generic one that came with my previous Bt tv box. Ive checked speeds using wireless devices. As above, 2.4 has far less speeds on say, sam knows or ookla- 5hz last night showed 380mb, but both Pc /xbox hard wired were barely getting a consistent 20mb. I was told by engineer that the hard wired items take priority? And take the best speed as such. But i dont seem to get that

Forget the Wifi at the moment.
Run this test on a wired device directly connected to the Hub with a 1Gb NIC and use the FULL test option.
www.samknows.cpm/realspeed Post the results please. This will not work if the Hub is in modem mode btw.
Do not use any extenders or powerline adapters.
Once done we can comment and suggest resolutions hopefully.

What's the CPU usage like when downloading?
Unpacking Steam downloads can be a large strain, even on a good system.

Ive also just had a look at network log in the setting of hub- seems to be alot of “warning” And “Critical” not that i know what it all means but someone may do?

This is not a VM issue.
The file hosting servers of game platform are the limiting factor.

since logging into the hub- ive had nothing but issues this eve- Nothing has been adjusted or changed. literally clicked through all the options on left hand side of menu. Internet has now totally gone.
