I have 3 devices connected to my virgin webmail account using outlook. All of them receive/sync new emails in the inbox of each but sent mails do not show up in the sent folders though they have been successfully sent. ie if I send an email from the web account, I don't receive it on the sent account on my pc or laptop. Also vice versa. sent items on the pc do not show up in the sent folder of webmail.
How do I sort this out?

Matthew probably means what IMAP server are using. The correct one for VM and legacy domains is imap.virginmedia.com
I'm a Very Insightful Person, I'm here to share knowledge, I don't work for Virgin Media, I'm a VM customer. There are no guarantees that my advice will work. Please read the FAQs

Are all your devices using IMAP?

Hey sdu60, thank you for reaching out and I am so sorry to hear this.
Please confirm what IMAP you are using?
Can you also test for me to see if they are sending okay to a dummy email or another email you have and let me know if they are sending.
Is Outlook fully updated?

thanks for the response.
1. I am using imap throughout -
2. "what imap" are there different sorts of imap? I am using ordinary imap on all devices.
3.Sent messages from my laptop, samsung phone and pc using virgin email to an alternate gmail account and they all arrived in the inboxes correctly on all devices..
4. Using outlook 2016 up to date as far as I known.

Hi @sdu60 👋.
Thanks for reaching out to us. Apologies for the issues you are having with your emails and folders. Can I ask, have you been able to resolve this since your post or do you require further assistance.

The problems are not resolved.
On my pc I have a sent folder and a sent items folder. When I send from the pc a copy of the email correctly appears in the sent folder. However **bleep** does not appear on my laptop which has a sent items folder and a sent folder.
When I send from the laptop a copy appears in the sent items folder on the laptop but does not appear on my pc.
I have checked that when I send an email from either device it does send correctly only copies do not appear on the other devices as described above.
I won't go into the android phone setup which uses webmail but it has similar problems.
All the folders are imap.
Any suggestions?

Hi @sdu60 thanks for getting back to us. Sorry to hear that your email issues are ongoing. Firstly are you using webmail or a 3rd party client when using your laptop? And also, have you attempted to delete and re-add your email address to each individual device?

My pc and laptop both use outlook as the email client. My samsung phone uses webmail. When I send email from any of the devices and copy my own address, a copy always appears in the others in box. If I just send an email from one of the devices it does not appear in the sent item folder of the others..
What now?
I am nervous about deleting email addresses as this might result in being unable to send or receive emails at all.

Hi sdu60,
Thanks for coming back to us. I'm afraid the next diagnostic step would be to remove the email accounts and re-add them fresh. That way you can set them all up with the exact same settings and this will hopefully stop any mishaps then.
You can view more on how to do this and the settings to use here.
Keep us updated on how you get on.
Thanks,
