I received an email from Virgin on 05/08 saying that Sky Sports was changing to Sky Sports+ and that in order to receive it I would need to replace the Tivo 'box'. I used the complaints process simply to get confirmation that if I didn't swap I would lose access to Sky Sports and that if I did swap I would lose everything I'd recorded. In reply I got a message saying that they had tried to get in touch with me. Absolutely certain nobody had. I've had this 'boiler plate' response before. I was told about the technical support available if I was having problems with Tivo - never said I was. What my package consisted of, when the the contract ended etc. Problems I was having with the Sky Sports package. I didn't say I was. All totally irrelevant. Sadly, if I do have to change to the 360 box I lose everything I've recorded going back years. Virgins advice is to watch everything before you change! The last time I agreed to change with Virgin I had months of problems. The Virgin engineer blamed my PC and left me high and dry .I had to insist on getting my old hub back and hey presto everything worked again! I suggest you look at page 13 of August Which? magazine i.e worst telecomms company - Virgin Media. You may as well close the complaint as suggested.
Surely you can give a straight answer to a very simple question?

I don't know what's meant by by 'time shift of recordings'. I appreciate that channel closures/moves and change of hardware can result in lost recordings. There doesn't seem much point in providing lots of disk space if the advice is not to use it for long term storage. Pity you can't archive the ability to another medium. Thanks for responding.

If you don't transfer to 360, you'll still get the broadcast sky sports but not the multiple choice extra broadcast matches within the Sports+ app.

Also you should note that these boxes are for time shift of recordings. I'd never rely on them as long term storage devices as things do change.... Channel closures or moves can often lead to old recordings become unwatchable. Or the boxes break down and need replacing. Just an FYI.

Hi BSK1
On your current tivo box you will still have access to all of your Sky Sports channels, however Sky Sports Arena HD on channel 508 has changed it's name to Sky Sports+ ( If you only have Sky Sports in SD then that channel will be on 518)
If you have a mobile phone or tablet and download the Sky Sports app you will be able to watch the additional red button content that isn't available on the older tivo and V6 boxes.

Thanks for your response, My impression based on info from Virgin was that if I didn't swap from TIVO to 360 I would lose Sky Sports completely and if I did swap I would, obviously, lose everything I'd recorded. I've always appreciated that fact that the latter could happen due to equipment failure, forced upgrade, channel loss/change etc. but I've preferred to hold on to my recordings as long as possible. So, the bottom line is if I don't go 360 I only lose Sky Sports+ on 508?

Sky Sports + the new name for the Sky Sports Arena channel - it's a bit like Sky changing the names of their Movie channels all the time, except they've renamed that particular sports channel.
The Sky Sports + channel, that is available on your tivo box on channel 508 if you pay for Sky Sports HD, or on channel 518 if you pay for Sky Sports SD. .
What you won't get though are the extra red button streams that are now available on Stream and TV360 boxes through your tivo box.
However, if you download the Sky Sports app on an android or apple tablet or mobile then you will be able to watch those extra streams on those devices.

The only guarantees about recordings is that they can disappear at any time and cannot be transferred to another box. However if you have recordings on a TiVo you can make copies onto a VCR or DVD recorder via the SCART sockets.

That is unequivocally not the case. I've also received (what is likely to be) the same email, and it seemed reasonably clear to me... but you're not the first person to post having interpreted it differently.
The linear broadcast channels in EPG 501-510 or 511-519 will remain. All that's happening now, is that the HD multiscreen service has launched and is currently exclusive to TV360.
Sometime later this year or early next, it should launch on V6.,
