Re: maxit upgrade

Does anyone know how to very simply upgrade from MIXIT to MAXIT? I basically had FULL HOUSE / 350MB broadband and weekend phone, and my bill got so insane I was ending up paying £125 a month. Of course I was never told there are MUCH better deals, but that's because I've been a customer for over 20 years, and it's only new customers that matter. Anyway, I now have MIXT / 1GB broadband / weekend phone for £69 a month, but... the guy told me I'd get ALL THE SAME CHANNELS I already had. I set the new box up today and NONE of the Full House channels are there (no BT Sport, Sky, etc) - super annoyed about this tbh, so my question is (as I can see MAXIT has all the channels I need) how can I EASILY upgrade from MIXIT to MAXIT without running through hoops or spending an hour waiting on the phone, etc? The website is a mess, old packages, no correct info... I just want to get my channels sorted asap. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

Hi MonkDave666

I've moved your post and created a new thread for you, it's easier for forum staff if they need to become involved.

The agent you spoke to when you regraded should have given you a price for the Maxit as that contains the same channels as the now obsolete Player tier.

It sounds like you were missold the Mixit tier since they advised you wouldn't lose any channels.

When regrading and agreeing to a new package, whether it was missold or not, you have a 14 day period where you can cancel that change and revert back to your previous package if it's still available. If it isn't available then the agent should be able to place you on the nearest equivalant.

Your best bet is to speak to Retentions (thinking of leaving) they should be able to rectify your package. Also see what price you can negotiate. They are generally based in the UK, and have a greater degree of knowledge and flexibility, along with a larger range of discounts than the front line agents.

Hopefully you can then negotiate a deal with them that's suitable to your pocket and needs in exchange for a new contract. Or failing that you can place a cancellation request with that team. That's 150 from your VM landline.

You can also text VM on 0753 305 1809 or speak to the team on WhatsApp on 0730 532 7112 but phone calls take priority and these methods can take 4 to 6 hours, probably longer.

The Maxit tier has all of the channels that were on the obsolete Player tier, plus a number of additional ones,  with the exception of the Kids channels.  You can compare the packages <<< here >>>  in columns 1  and 5.

BT Sports channels weren't part of the Player tier, so you must have had an add on to receive them.

You could also look at adding Personal Picks (which are additional channels) to the Mixit tier - there is a list <<< here >>>  The Entertainment and Sport Lite Personal Pick add on includes both Eurosport channels, plus Sky Sports Mix and Sky Sports News, and an additional 11 entertainment channels.

"BT Sports channels weren't part of the Player tier, so you must have had an add on to receive them" - This is wrong. I had no add on, I just had the "FULL HOUSE" package that I've had for years (and looking at that list you linked to, BT Sport was included in Full House, and is included in MAXIT)

I certainly do not want to revert to my old package, it was £125 a month with 350MB broadband - ie, a total rip-off but of course I was never informed of better deals. I only found out about it as I basically hopped on the chat to cancel everything initially, and just have 1GB broadband on its own. I honestly feel like this stuff is made complex and obtuse on purpose. I mean, I can't even just find out how much it is to simply upgrade to MAXIT from MIXIT if that's what I wanted to do. I also don't want personal picks, I actually hate most sport and ONLY have BT Sport for UFC cards.

Sorry, I thought your original post said Player package.

There is generally around a £20 price differential if upgrading to MAXIT from MIXIT

Do you want/need the extra channels that are available as part of Maxit? Or just the BT Sports?  Do you need the recording function provided by the Tivo/V6 and 360 boxes?

The reason I'm asking is that BT Sports are an additional £18 per month as an add on on Tivo/V6/360 boxes if not taken with the Maxit addon.

However there is another option.

You could ask Retentions to look into giving you the Gig1 speed and add the <<< Stream box >>>

With the Stream box you can add BT Sports for £8 per month.

It's one box per household and can't be taken with any other VM TV service. The Stream box is IP based and doesn't have a recording facility.  The basic package is free as it's basically a Freeview box although it doesn't have all of the freeview channels it has the majority of them -  see <<< this link >>>  for the channel list - the ones marked in green in the right hand column are those available for free.

If you did want any further additional channels then there is the Essential Entertainment add on which £8 per month - they are marked on that channel list in a mustardy colour.

Hey @MonkDave666,

Welcome back to the Community Forums and thanks for the post.

Sorry to see you have been having this issue with your package and the change that occurred, I can certainly look at rectifying this for you in a quick private message, if you have not used this feature before then you can access it via the envelope at the top of your screen.

Speak to you soon. Joe

No need to worry now, I hopped back on the chat box on your website, and have now upgraded to MAXIT, literally for cheaper. Utterly baffling. Getting any kind of set price from Virgin is basically like trying to haggle at a Marrakech spice market.

Hey @MonkDave666,

Glad to hear you were able to go about sorting this yourself, if you do ever need any help in the future or have any questions about your package, please don't hesitate to reach out and we will be happy to assist.

Joe
