Cable my street

Tuning in

Hi I'm just wondering if I could get some information if it's likely my street will be cabled in the near future? I noticed there's some cables being installed a street over and further back from there.

I've attached an image to show where they're being installed, we live between Wardle St and Sandal St and are all currently connected to an old bt cabinet and community funding an upgrade would cost us £5k through openreach even though there are fibre enabled cabinets within 20 metres and we live walking distance to the centre of manchester.

Hi, I've registered my address on the cable my street site and I've been led here out of curiosity really. I'm wondering if someone could tell me if there is any plans to cable my street as I've been stuck with BT rubbish since we moved six months ago, and previous to that I was a virgin customer since the ntl days and really missing the reliability and speeds. Thanks in advance Postcode is ol26wj

Hmm! Looks like a new build estate to me. Has the road been adopted by the Local Authority?

If it is still in private hands (usually for 5 to 10 years after build) then you have no chance of them digging up all that nice new tarmac to put VM in.

Even if the LA has taken over the road & there is VM infrastructure nearby, VMs budget for “infill” projects is now exhausted, so you could still be in for a long wait.

VM 350BB 2xV6 & Landline. Freeview/Freesat HD, ASDA/Tesco PAYG Mobile. Cable customer since 1993

Hi thanks for a response as far as I'm aware the street has been adopted by local authorities but don't know when and the houses are about 12 years old and are all leasehold if that makes a difference. Thanks again looks like I'm stuck with BT

Hi Leenem, welcome to our community forums.

To be able to take a look for you I'm going to need to ask you for additional details, to do this I'm going to send you a PM.

Thanks,

Tom_S

How many times does one have to fill in the form with a promise of a reply within 10 days (LOL @ a reply)
before they get a reply as to when the street that now has cable run and a box outside my house will be live ????

Yes I did years ago..

Can you confirm where you got the 10 days timescale from london_bug? The Cable My Street site simply registers you for updates as and when they become available.

Hi Rob

Referring to the message you get on the virgin site after you put your postal code in and select your address

My street has had cable fitted but can I get a date for installation.... Seemingly not

Virginmedia really are the hardest company to give money to lol

Hi london_bug,

Apologies that you've received no updates on this so far, when was the last time you filled out the form? If you are happy to provide some additional details we can check it for you.

Thanks,
