Weird power level distribution and RS errors

i_saw_drones
Tuning in

Hi All,

I recently noticed a bit of lag now and again with my Hub 3, and I decided to check the stats on it and found that there's a bit of a discrepancy regarding the power levels of downstream - is it normal for some channels have very negative power and others positive power ?

There's also quite a lot of post-RS errors on those channels which have a more extreme power values.

Please could you let me know if this is an issue with my line, or I can do something else to improve this, or does this need an engineer visit? Thank you!

Below stats have been taken after the router has been on for around 6 hours.

There is still a serious problem with your connection. That is very obvious from the data you have posted. It still needs to be sorted by a technician on site.

Hey @i_saw_drones,

Sorry to hear you are still having this issue.

I can see from our systems that you are still experiencing an outage, this is set to be fixed on the 13th December at 12:20PM, we would ask that you bear with us whilst we work through this.

Joe

Hi there Joe,

Thank you for the update, I'm sorry to hear that there is still an issue with the area before even someone will look at my connection, as I noted that it's also affecting my download speeds, so I am not receiving what I'm paying for :(. I also noticed from my BQM reports that I have a lot of packet loss as well, which is not great to say the least.

I will check as soon as it is resolved on Wednesday 13th and report back so that hopefully we can move this forward.

Something interesting happened at 03.00 today. The gross packet loss stopped, so there has been a network change. You might like to check your Hub data for any changes.

Thank you for the heads-up, as it prompted me to check. I normally restart the hub daily at 3am with a power plug, however, I was curious as to why the packet drops stopped and it turns out that the router decided to sync to a single download channel:

Since then, I've had multiple drops/resyncs and all the download channels came back, albeit with the same power distribution as my earlier posts, and it seems the packet drops have returned too.

At it stands, it's unusable at the moment for remote work, so I am currently piggybacking off my mobile hotspot.
Fingers crossed it improves or VM find a fix by Wednesday.

Hi @i_saw_drones

Thanks for coming back to us.

The outage has been closed as resolved.

I do hope therefore everything has been resolved for you but if not, please let us know and we can assist further.

Best wishes

Hi John_GS,

Thank you for coming back. Things have improved since the fix yesterday (13th Dec), as there is no longer any red on my BQM chart!

I checked my levels today and they seem to be better than before and there are now no Post RS errors! 🙂 However, I still have a strange distribution of power values (some positive and some negative), but I am not sure if this can be considered to be "normal"? It doesn't seem to impact the errors, but should it be like this?

I've posted them as they are now, after the router has been on for around 14 hours or so. Thank you for any input!

Those levels are OK now. Nothing to worry about.

Ah thank you very much for your input on this jpeg1! Appreciate your help throughout this thread.

In this case, I think no further actions needed thank goodness 🙂

Thanks for the updates @i_saw_drones.
