Hi All;
I am on M350 fibre and have the Hub 3.0 which is in Modem Mode and I have an ASUS RT-AX82U Wi-Fi 6 gaming router acting as my Wi-Fi / cable router for all household appliances. This works great although was still having bouts of slow / intermittent drops in internet at times. I am a gamer and have no issues with cable or Wi-Fi gaming until recently. I play Day-Z and when on the server loading screen it absolutely kills the internet, dropping a speed test to 1.15Mbps down and a few Mbps up (until I stop server refreshes). It settles when I join an actual game. This is the only game doing this?
Anyway, on looking at the Hub 3.0 I am getting these errors on the log:
No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out; CM-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CMTS-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;
I have also noted when doing a trace-rt in CMD it drops the 3rd, 5th route (hits my router immediately, then the Hub and dies when out, re-establishes and then drops around 7 or 8th trace-rt path.
I have noted, also mainly in DayZ I have lag and dropped connections for moments. I am wondering if my router or the line is faulty? I quite regularly have to restart the Hub 3.0.
I don't understand why this specific issue with this game as it was fine for years. I am sure its probably something they have updated however with the sporadic issues with connection throughout the house (solid Wi-Fi connections) I am wondering if router / line? I carried out speed tests with the server loader in DayZ and in Task Manager it only showed 0.1 Mbps usage however I couldn't even run a speed test 80% of the time (when I could Edge showed the speed rate) - very strange.
I removed the Forward Path Equaliser from back of router to test and things have improved - Jitter varies from 0.6 to 10, however mostly around 0.6 - 3.6 with this device removed. Router still has the errors. I have never liked the Hub 3.0. Should I request a new router or engineer to check line? I have just asked for an upgrade to 500Mbps fibre through my account upgrades.

Hi, here is a BQM for today! I will let it run all weekend. The massive spike and dropped packets just short of 1600 hrs was when I launched Day Z and it was in the server loader screen and it was refreshing the official and community server lists! In steam I have already dropped that to 250 from 5000! Speed tests are top notch, however when this was ongoing my speed test dropped and the upload was non existent!

Hi @T3nshipb,
Thanks for getting back to us here. It would be best to share a live BQM because we can then see your connection quality in real-time as opposed to a singular specific moment in the past.
I've just checked over things on our systems and I'm unable to detect any faults currently that would explain this. Is this issue ongoing for you today?
Thanks,

Hi Zach, below is the live share. My connection is usually fine but certain times the sky boxes or Netflix crap out (Netflix through sky Q). My main problem is when playing the game Day Z? That spike on graph I sent was when the server launcher was cycling through refreshing the server lists. If my son is on playing COD or Fortnite (via CAT 6 shielded cable) and I load DayZ his ping hits 600 and my game craps out? Mostly it’s fine and DayZ never used to cause a problem?
I always had crap Wi-Fi hence why I turned hub 3 to modem mode and bought the ASUS gaming router which helped. I just wondered if maybe noise on the line or a dodgy connection coming into house or in cabinet was causing the issues because it’s only been the last few months?!

Hey @T3nshipb,
Thanks for confirming this, looking at the diagnostics we can run whilst the Hub is in Modem mode, everything shows as okay on the connection, the BQM does have a spike which I can see but for this we would usually advise performing a reboot of said equipment, we would ask to run further diagnostics to remove the Hub from Modem mode.

Hi there,
Thanks for looking at this for me. I’m working today however how would I arrange a time to switch the hub to router mode for u as if I switch it over everything in house will lose internet? I’m off Thursday and Friday and could arrange a time for us to do this if appropriate?
thanks

Hi Peter.
Thanks for getting back in touch with us. We can run further diagnostics, we would need to bring you in for a private message in order to do this. Please look out for the envelope on the top right of your web browser or if you are using a mobile device, it will be located under your profile icon.
Thanks.

Did this get solved?
I have a similar issue whereby a piece of music software I have (Ableton) nukes my network as soon as it’s loaded - moments after I quit the program, the network recovers.
I can happily use the program online via my phones hotspot so it’s not a data/bandwidth challenge as far as I can see but I’m yet to find a solution that points to a router setting that’s causing this.
edit: yes I’ve spoken to Ableton support and have turned off all automatic updates and sending of data usage etc to see if this solves it however it’s still an issue

Hi @SmartyUK
Welcome to our community forums and thank you for your first post.
Sorry to hear you have been having issues with Ableton and your Network service. We can understand the frustration caused and we want to best help. Is this the only program you are having this issue with? How long has this issue been ongoing? What was discussed when you spoke to Ableton?
Thanks,

Forgive me, I lost this thread but have re-found.
I re-posted my Q here: https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Networking-and-WiFi/Hub-3-0-crashes-when-using-specific-softwar...
