Virgin Media changed my new broadband package to a more expensive one after I signed up!

I contacted virgin media by telephone
on Friday the 30th June 2023
This was before my contract was due to
expire on the 2nd July.

I accepted a broadband package for 500mb
with no phone or tv included.
The price was £44 per mth for 18 maths.

Sky was offering 500mb for £40 a mth
for 18 months as a new customer
but I agreed to stay with virgin media
for convenience so the new contract
would automatically start as the
previous
ended so not to be out of contact and charged £56 a month.
I have been on all forms for communication with them all day and always left on hold with no agent to speak to.

I’ve been on WhatsApp for 1h and 45 mins now and still not been transferred to an agent as promised.
I’m also on hold via telephone at the same time for currently 55mins! Just waiting for the call to be cut off like other people have experienced.

*** yes I was right they cut me off after 60 mins!!!!

I opened and accepted the new contract on 30thJune before my current contract ended so there would be no gap where they could charge a standard out of contract rate.
They then went and created a completely different broadband package more exams not starting when my only contract ended.

This sort of business activity must surly be illegal ?

Making me purposely fall out of contract to get more money out of me.

Why has this not happened?
Why is an email saying it will start
much later in July and be £46

If this is the case I will be moving
to Sky for the deal they are offering.

This is the contract sent to me that
I opened and accepted below.

Hi @missconway thanks for posting and welcome to our community.

Sorry to hear that you're unhappy with the time taking to make your package changes.  If you're cancelling or downgrading any services then your new deal would start 30 days from the date you made the agreement.  I would like to take a look on your behalf, to offer clarification. I am going to send you a private message. Please keep an eye on your inbox in the top right of your screen.

Regards
