I think it's called 'marketing'!

VM's claim to greatness is based on it having the 'fastest median download speed'

https://www.virginmedia.com/broadband/speeds

'UK’s fastest major broadband provider: based on Gig1 Fibre Broadband avg download speed 1,130Mbps vs avg download speeds of major UK ISPs internet service providers.'

Who adds the upload and download to calculate the overall speed?.. No-one I believe.

Of course VM will have to change their stance once 1.2 and 1.8Gbps services are mainstream with other providers, however by that time they will probably have 2.2Gbps available.

I'm not a Very Insightful Person (just a little bit, sometimes). I don't work for Virgin Media (but then nor do any of the offshore customer service agents).

2.2Gbps with 100Mbps upstream. They really need to do something about their upload speed, but it might be tricky due to the tech they use.

I was uploading 61Gb worth of photos and videos on my new City Fibre connection and despite 'only receiving 300Mbps upload speed over wifi out of the 900Mbps' it made a massive difference and I was done in no time

a lot of people i believe, people that have videos and photos  uploading large files uploading the forward movement in gaming i bet you work for virgin lol.
