Switching form Talktalk to Virgin media broadband.

Hi guys, I just purchased a New virgin media broadband deal today. I am currently on Talktalk with my contract ending on 31st of December. Will virgin media do the switch for me or will i have to manually cancel from TalkTalk. I also ordered the self install pack but just saw someone say that Openreach doesn't work with Virgin media. Due to receive my kit on 14th so wondering if it will work or not.

Hello pokelto3.

Thanks for choosing us as your new provider and welcome to our community.

With the one touch switch now in place for all providers, we will contact Talk Talk and advise them that we're taking your service over.

Even though our cable doesn't come down the same connection as Openreach, you should have existing cables from a previous tenant in place, these are normally run from outside up to the property wall and covered by a protective box. Then inside should be a white cover with what looks like a silver connector and white cable.

I can also send you a private message to take some details.

If you can check the logo at the top right of your screen that would be great.

I used the OTS from TT to VM recently, moving from FTTC but did not bring my phone service across.

I needed a cable pull and full installation as this property has never had a VM connection.

All went to plan and TT disconnected my services 3 days after VM went live but TT did not charge for the 3 overlap days.

As VM changed the installation 3 times it does look like they advised TT when the service went live so I was never without internet.

You do have to make sure that you have specified OTS in your order.  According to one recent post the changeover went wrong because OTS wasn't used.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.
