Second wifi hub to boost signal

deva2005
On our wavelength

Hi all

Not sure if one has been answered before?

Our hub sits downstairs, and the WiFi signal upstairs is terrible.

We have tried the 'Pods', but doesn't really help much.

Thinking about this, we have a spare Hub sitting in the cupboard not being used, is there any way this could be connected to really boost the signal upstairs like a repeater?

If not, would changing to Business Broadband make a difference with a stronger hub in the first place?

Many thanks in advance for any guidance and advice

David

Only if you buy a second subscription, and setup your devices to connect to two different SSID's (Network names). Technically you could setup both HUBs to use the same SSID, however, I'm unsure how well the devices would roam between them.

Changing to Business Broadband wouldn't make any difference.

Your best bet is to invest in your own third party router/mesh system and put the HUB into modem mode, assuming you don't have a HUB 5x.

If you have the free VM pods your best option is to run an Ethernet cable from the hub to the upstairs location and plug the pod into the cable. In this instance the pod can be in the same from as the target machine. If you use the pods in their original mod the pods MUST be half way between the VM hub and the target machine. It is very easy to hide external grade Ethernet cable behind drain pipes to get it up stairs.
