Hi all,
I have recently switched to 1gb fibre and I'm having issues with slow speed on my PS4. It's connected via LAN and I'm only getting speeds of around 400mb at a push. This is actually slower than what I was getting when I was on 500mb.
I have contacted support (assuming somewhere in India) and got absolutely nowhere.
My Lan cable is CAT 8 so capable of running 1gb.
Done the speed test virgin recommend (Sam Knows) and there's definitely gig going to the hub, so I'm stuck with ideas. I'm sure I had the ports open when I was on 500mb but can't seem to find it as easy to do this time around.
Can anyone advise on how to help?
Many thanks
Shaun

"But strangely doesn't work unless you're on VM broadband, which makes me suspicious of it."
Unless you are on your VM Broadband you can not identify or reach the VM Hub to perform a service to Hub speed test, followed by a Hub to Device speed test. I wish more ISPs would implement Realspeed in their Hub / Router it is very handy for identifying customer equipment that underperforms as well as ISP issues.

Correct. The Samknows (now part of Cisco) client is baked into the Hub's firmware, hence it only works with VM Hubs, and only if they are in Router mode. The bigger picture is part of VM's plans to fix problems with Broadband circuits without any user knowledge, which I believe is part of Cisco's "Thousand Eyes" (?) technology. There is an article on ISP Preview somewhere about it.
