Hi all,
I have recently switched to 1gb fibre and I'm having issues with slow speed on my PS4. It's connected via LAN and I'm only getting speeds of around 400mb at a push. This is actually slower than what I was getting when I was on 500mb.
I have contacted support (assuming somewhere in India) and got absolutely nowhere.
My Lan cable is CAT 8 so capable of running 1gb.
Done the speed test virgin recommend (Sam Knows) and there's definitely gig going to the hub, so I'm stuck with ideas. I'm sure I had the ports open when I was on 500mb but can't seem to find it as easy to do this time around.
Can anyone advise on how to help?
Many thanks
Shaun

For game play low Jitter & low Latency are more important that high bandwidth.

Cat 8 is overkill and the shielding may be causing problems. A good quality Cat 6 cable is more than enough.
What does a direct wired speed test to www.samknow.com/realspeed show ? Run the FULL test and post a photo of the results please.

Here lies the problem. The only Lan connection I have is direct to the PS4, and samknows doesn't seem to work on the PS4 browser. I'm going by what the connection test is telling me on the PS4. I don't have anything else to plug the Lan into to try.

If you have a mobile, the Samknows Realspeed app can be used to check the service to the VM Hub is ok.

Please see attached photos. The sam knows is my mobile device which caps out at 400mb, I'm not worried about the WiFi anyway. I've attached what the PS4 is currently showing.

Do either of these run in the browser of the PS 4 ?

But strangely doesn't work unless you're on VM broadband, which makes me suspicious of it.
