O2 - who provide Virgin's mobile service - have many locations where their data service is in congestion resulting in slow speeds. But I'd have expected you to get service in some locations on a journey of that sort.

Presumably (but you've not said), voice calls are OK? Does toggling between 3G/4G/5G as appropriate, make any difference?
