I hadn't really tried using TV go before, but with the new 360 box I thought I'd check it out.
Using a chromebook, which is showing up as a registered device in my account, I can watch live TV, and I get 'Watch on TV' as an option for my recordings and watchlist, but I can't watch any recordings in the browser. Instead I see a message that the programme is available on the Virgin TV Go website. Please go to the website to continue." The problem is that I'm already on the website.

Theres a lot of confusion on this thread so let's take it a step at a time.
So, if you want to watch those recordings then you have to use the app on your phone, or hopefully they will be available as box sets on demand on the website?

TV Control should allow you to watch recordings. However, I don’t believe there is an app on Chromebook, just Android, IOS and Amazon.
TV Go allows you to watch on-demand, catch up and live TV (except Sky Sports, you need Sky Sports App fo that. There is an Android app, IOS app and browser support for it.

Correct. The app isn't available on Chromebooks.

You can’t watch recordings from TV Go. You can only watch them with TV Control.

You can use your Virgin TV Control app as an extra TV remote, to browse the TV guide, and personalise it to show only your favourite channels. Not only that, but if you are planning your daily exercise break or weekly food shop, you can control your TiVo or V6 box from anywhere. As long as you have a WiFi, 3G or 4G connection, you can set and manage your recordings. What’s more, if you have a V6 box, you can stream your V6 recordings to mobiles or tablets around the home.

The TV Control app does not work with the 360 box.

I have a 360 box (for better or for worse). On my android phone I have an app called Virgin TV Go, which I can use to watch recorded programmes. I just tested that to make sure it was the case. I can't use the Virgin TV Go website, though, and I don't know why not.

Thanks BlueLou for the comprehensive summary.
There a couple of thoughts I have from it:
