Failed direct debit

Hi all,

I've tried to search for the answer on forums but drew a blank.

This is with regards to Broadband package.

If a direct debit fails (1st time) does it get represented to the bank (ie do VM try again to collect the payment) within 14days?

If this is the case, do the services get restricted or throttled until 2nd attempt is processed successfully?

TIA

Hi @RojoNjall thanks for your post here in the Community - welcome!

If a Direct Debit fails, generally it doesn't get attempted to be taken via that method a second time around.

When this happens, a manual payment would need to be made and you can do so via here.

Services would however, only get restricted when you're over 60 days behind on payments. So for example in order for this to happen, your Direct Debit would fail for April's bill, and then your May bill would be produced (containing both April's payment, and May's as a total, plus a late payment fee for not paying in April).

Once the end of May is approaching, you'd receive communication about potential cut-offs, as a warning before any restrictions are issued and we're always here to support in these cases too.

So if you have only one failed Direct Debit and it's still within your billing cycle, there's no need to worry as you'd be a long way anything like this yet.

Does this help at all?

Many thanks
