Hub 3 wifi

derek765
Dialled in

I have a 6 month old Hub 3 and the wifi is absolutely useless - only one timber floor to go through, about 12ft, and throughput drops by a good 50-75%. As far as I can see I have some options:

  1. optimise distance between router and device - not easy but I'd need to run cable, so may as well lay cat6 !
  2. run cat6 to device - possible but not before summer
  3. modem mode and add a router - any router suggestions ? Traffic will be mainly remote connectivity, browsing, zoom
  4. Wait for a hub 5. I'm not on 1G so this could be a long wait (if its rolling out to non 1G users)

Thanks

Hub5 will be no better for performance stability/range albeit it will be wifi6. I suspect it will be just as bad (see the threads on here).

Running ethernet cable is always the best solution (get Cat6a - best shielding).

Router or Mesh? - depends on what features you want and your budget ?
