I'm reading lots of contradictory things about modem mode on hub5 .. Thanks Re: subnets Started to look into modem mode - although threads are 6 months go, experience seems to be that modem mode (especially from the 2.5Gb port) doesn't work ? I also checked out these very useful links: The three types of Virgin Media Broadband - FTTP Pro and Better Internet Dashboard In summary - I'm on 1000Mbps - HFC. Is it possible to get Hub5 working in modem mode on the 2.5Gb port and is there a guide to this, or a workaround ? Re: subnets Yeah I think this is it. Now I can see the AX50 connection speed is as good as Hub+Black Pod its a possibility. Quite liked having 7 RJ45 ports though lol so if needs be I have a little switch I can pop in - just another box/another power supply *sigh* Great answer though, thanks Re: subnets The samba server & one other are pis which I'd have preferred to be cabled in, but I don't really "need" to be cabled in, so I could just wirelessly connect to the AX50. Prefer your other answer tbh :) subnets Setup 1Gb connection Hub5 in router mode 192.168.0.1 (needs to be router mode because of pod) DHCP 192.168.0.2 reserved for tplink router using its mac address Black pod Cat 6 cable to TPLink AX50 WAN port AX50 in router mode (needs to be router mode as I need functionality that is lost in AP mode) AX50 Internet (WAN): IP: 192.168.0.2 Default gateway: 192.168.0.1 subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 AX50 LAN: IP: 192.168.1.1 subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Static link added: Network destination: 192.168.0.0 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Default gateway: 192.168.0.1 Interface: LAN Everything works fine except I can't connect from a device on 192.168.1 to a device on 192.168.0 (I have a samba server I'd like to be able to access from both 192.168.0 and 192.168.1 - dont care which subnet its connected to if this makes things easier) I also tried a route to 192.168.0.11 255.255.255.255 - no changes. Have I got a config wrong/how do I resolve ? Or is this something the Hub is blocking ? Are there any workarounds. I guess I could probably access with cloudflare tunnelling but this seems overkill unless its the only way TIA ! SolvedGig connection, hub5, network drops Hi all As per title, I'm on a 1G connection, using a hub5, and see network drops on and off throughout the day. There doesn't seem to be a pattern as to when they're occuring e.g. time of day/network traffic. Router has been restarted. All cable connections (back to the wall) have been checked and seem good. The last drop was around 11:10, I've pasted the Network logs from the router below. IIRC, there have always been errors of one sort or another in the logs, I've just not worried about it as the connection was generally good. Any thoughts ? DECT phone or new phone, VM Hub 5 ? Hi, I have a package including landline, which I've not bothered with for 2 years. Now wanting to use it. Can I use my (7 years old) DECT phone or do I need to buy a new one, and if so any recommendations ? Can't see anything useful on VM main pages Also I've seen many posts and warnings about VM landline and VM Hub 5, have the issues now been ironed out ? Many thanks D
