VM sim and VM broadband on same network?

Tuning in

Hi, I see that VM SIM only deals are very good, so thinking of buying, especially as a backup in case VM home broadband goes down. Would that work, ie use the phone as a hotspot with the VM SIM in case VM home broadband goes down or would they both be affected with network issues at the same time? Thanks

Hi @naz2

Welcome back to the community forums.

The mobile network is completely separate from the broadband network. Hotspotting your sim will not give you as much speed as fibre broadband but is a good back up if needed. Just bare in mind that if you are hot spotting and your router is broadcasting WiFi at the same time, they may affect each others coverage and performance, as they will interfere with one another, much like any other devices that broadcast radio frequencies and microwaves such as Bluetooth devices, Microwaves,  Baby Monitors, Walkie-Talkies and Other Radios.

You can check the mobile coverage in your area here if needed to get a better idea at what generation is available in your area (3g/4g/5g)
