Just set up the new hub 4 and the Internet speed is exactly the same as my old package when it should now be 1gb. Anything I need to do to activate the new speed?

Have you a new speed connection as well or just a new hub?
If you call virgin 150 on your handset or 0345 454 1111 then there maybe an activation option there
