Re: Hub 3 / Compal CH7465-LG (TG2492LG) & CGNV4 Latency Cause

@appleaday wrote:

Just seen this on the register website, a firmware update is due it says

it says there will be an update, as far as I could see it did not specify an ETA.

Based on previous firmware build time lines it could be a long while before this is fixed!

Re: Hub 3 / Compal CH7465-LG (TG2492LG) & CGNV4 Latency Cause

I was part of a few trials for the SH3 and it was noted by several users. There were many other bugs noted but VM decided to roll it out anyway.

Interesting they release a "Boss" service for gaming but don't have the hardware to support it.

Are the problems with Router Mode or Modem Mode or Both.

Running on 350Mb VM service with SH3 in Modem Mode, with a ASUS RT-AC5300 router. With this setup I get Fantastic WIRED and WIRELESS Signals in my home. I dont work for VM. But I work in IT, and I know my tech.
My advice is at your own risk.

Re: Hub 3 / Compal CH7465-LG (TG2492LG) & CGNV4 Latency Cause

The latency problem is seen:

A.  in both router and modem mode;

B.  when running a direct connection to the modem with the modem running in either mode or;

C.  when connecting thru a router with the modem running in either mode.

D.  It effects all IPV4 and IPV6 protocols, including VPN and IPSEC.

Fwiw, here is a plot that xymox1 posted last night in the DSLReports forum that shows the results from a Broadcom based SB6183, the Puma 6 SB6190 and then the Puma 5 based SB6141.  The Puma 5 chipset was apparently MIPS and ARM based versus the Puma 6 chipset which is x86 Atom based.

That plot would be the equivalent of going from a Hub 2 to a Hub 3 and back again.

This was my changeover from SH2 to hub3

Adding my voice to the thread because the state of the SH3 is frankly apalling and VM need to get their behinds into gear. I don't want this turning into another port flapping issue and taking 9 months to sort in the most half-assed way.

Re: Hub 3 / Compal CH7465-LG (TG2492LG) & CGNV4 Latency Cause

What isn't helping is the massive drive VM are going through right now to move as many of their customers who have broadband over to having this mostly broken hub as their gateway to the Internet. 99% of the feedback from the trial period has gone completely ignored by their firmware team, they don't care about bug fixing. Knowing the state the hub is in, they should be doing their best to ensure that as few possible people have it, until it is all fixed up.

So glad I don't have a SH3.

It looks like the SH3 is not fit for purpose, funny that VM have been silent. (to me that speaks volumes).
