i can login to virginmedia but when i go into email i get the message mailbox unavailable. virgin support tried changing password for me then told me i need to speak to talkltalk cos they deal with @virgin.net email addresses. talktalk website suggests this isn't right? Help!

No it isn’t right, the VM support people were either outright lying to get you off the phone, or just completely ignorant of the situation regarding the old Virgin.net addresses - I’m not too sure which one of these possibilities is the most reprehensible!
Quick question, are you still a current VM broadband customer? If so, if you log into the myvirginmedia.com website, do you see your email address listed?
