Having a problem accessing my Virgin (blueyonder domain) email on a non-Virgin (vodphone) Android phone

I have a Samsung A!2 on Vodafone network, which has access to my Virgin WiFi. when I try to set up my email (one of the old blueyonder.co.uk domain ones)  to send/receive from the phone, I'm aske a lot of questions I'm not sure of the answers to, eg Pop3 or IMAP? (I think it used to be Pop3, but whether it still is...) etc. Putting in my general VM password, but can't seem to jump through the right hoops. VM "Help" page useless as usual.

The settings you need can be found here:

https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Email/Email-settings-change/td-p/3369438/jump-to/first-unread-m...

The IMAP settings are generally best to use when accessing emails from multiple devices but remember any changes made on one device will be replicated across all devices.

The password that you need is the one for the blueyonder email address, this may not be the same as your primary My VM account if you don't use the blueyonder email as your primary username.

Hi.

I've specified IMAP on the phone, given it my full email username and entered the correct password.

The phone has asked for server which  I have entered as imap.virginmedia, com as the link you gave suggested. i'm being asked for port. i don't know what this is but 143 has been entered autommatically, and securiyu type which I don't know and have left as "none"

Phone comes up with "Couldn't open connecion to sewrver"

Your questions are answered in the link I posted earlier.  IMAP port 993,  security type SSL
