V6 Box Scart connection

Higuys

Hi there I was thinking of leaving Virgin because the Tivo box was too slow, I have now discovered the V6 box and it is supposed to be faster?. with my current Tivo box I use the scart output to transmit to all my other TV's via an RF converter, I have seen photos of the V6 box and it shows a round Scart out socket.

My question is :- Is this a scart socket and if so is there an adaptor to convert it to a standard scart.

Hi there, I have 2 V6 boxes and have them both connected to HDMI splitters one is the Neoteck

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Neoteck-Splitter-Splitters-Amplifier-Projector-Gold/dp/B01M347UUU/ref=sr_1_...

And the other is an Esynic

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Splitter-Xbox360-Blu-ray-Camcorder-Satellite-1X2/dp/B00LM4IJ60/ref=sr_1_3?s...

I prefer the Esynic as the Neoteck power socket in the unit is weak and mine came away when I pulled the power cable out.

Which ever one you use make sure your V6 box is in standby when you plug the splitter in. If you get a flashing picture connect the V6 box direct to the TV first then try again.

I used this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01MYH5WW9/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but it is now showing no stock.  However, if you go to that one there are several around the same price/spec point that should be fine for the job.  Just make sure it is 1 in and two out simultaneously, not just a 2-way switch.

The other thing I noticed was that sometimes an slight change in an image on the TV will halt the HDMI convertor output and need a reset of the system.  I solved this by forcing the TIVO to use one protocol.  You may need to try forcing it to stay with 1080i resolution rather than 1080p.  This is almost certain more to do with the HDMI to RCA signal conversion.  This might be a problem for some people because of the better performance of 1080p although this is not really noticeable unless your TV is bigger than 32inches.

Like I said before, I think in my case using an HDMI to 3xRCA sockets rather than SCART  is probably more significant because of the presence of the control signals associated with the HDMI to SCART protocol as long as you are willing to compromise a bit with the 1080i restriction if this turns out to be a problem.

Hope that helps

I personslly hsvent ised any (HDMI) splitter as didnt work.

I have been using my setup for over a year and have never altered any settings on the V6 box the only reason I highlighted the following in my last post is that when I go on holiday I power one box off completely including the V6, splitter and hdmi to scart unit, and since the last software update I have been having trouble starting up again, I have tried switching the Neoteck and Esynic splitters with no difference.

(Which ever one you use make sure your V6 box is in standby when you plug the splitter in. If you get a flashing picture connect the V6 box direct to the TV first then try again.)

I have 3 remote controls for each V6 box and paired them to the boxes I can control both boxes from 3 different rooms in the house.

VM are a pain, I joined a month ago & will leave when my year is up due to this problem. Back to using my old Humax box as I can view it on my tv or laptop, seen automatically by both no messing with setups. Get a grip VM put it on the WiFi.

A HDMI to Scart converter  works fine if connected between the V6 & your scart appliance

Thanks Betanski but I need HDMI to ethernet to plug into the Virgin modem to use on the network like my old recorder which has it built in

The SCART converter for the V6 needs 4k for compliance I fear signal quality will be poor if the box checks for compliance

Hi siarad i don't understand what you mean by needing a HDMI to ethernet to plug into the Virgin modem to use on the network.

I have 2 V6 boxes both are in the garage next to my router with an ethernet cable from each of the V6 boxes to the router (you can connect them via the WiFi but it can be unreliable ) the only reason they need to be connected via the router is so you can access the box on your phone or tablet (or in my case watch a programme recorded on box A on box B and vice versa)

1) I also can watch the content of both V6 boxes on 4 other TVs in my house using the following, I run the HDMI cable from Box A to this HDMI splitter   https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01M347UUU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=AZV1Z18ZCU603&psc=1

2) I then run one HDMI lead to TV 1 the other HDMI lead to this HDMI to scart converter  https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01GFPCHYA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AZV1Z18ZCU603&psc=1

3) I then run the scart lead to a scart to RF modulator                                                                                                                            https://www.amazon.co.uk/mercury-350-111-RF-Modulator-Grey/dp/B000M6SMKW/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie...

This is an example I got a cheap one off EBAY the aerial then goes to my distribuatior                                                                                       https://www.amazon.co.uk/SLx-28104RG-4G-Output-Distribution-Amplifier/dp/B0131PTGSC/ref=sr_1_14?s=el...

This is only an example I got mine off Ebay

I then repeat steps 1 2 and 3 for the other V6 box but use the same distributor.

A word of caution not all HDMI splitters work as friends have found out, I have had my setup running for about 2 years without any problem or picture degredation on HDMI connected TVs, you can use a 4K splitter and 4K HDMI scart connector, I have a 4K TV but when i connect the V6 box direct to the TV for 4K programmes i can't tell the difference between that and HD.

Just wrote a reply but said authentication failed so short version

Thanks but OMG that's so complex! all those devices, cables & two V6 how much do they cost.

V6n is a dud

Some of what I said earlier today but was wiped:

My original recorder allows me to run any file on TV, laptop etc out of the box no messing about with adaptors or cables simply using ethernet of a WiFi dongle which I've never tried preferring to use the Virgin modem WiFi.

I can simultaneously run different files on different devices with one proviso: they must be in SD quality due to copyright protection. I can simply copy files or blocks of files to any device to view when travelling.

No wonder I'll ditch Virgin at the end of contract
