Subject Access Request / Data Protection Act

Hi

I need to make a request for a SAR for my virgin mobile account.

There is no information on the Virgin Media website to get this or contact.

Cheers

Hi SD126,

Thanks for your post on the Community and welcome. I'm sorry to hear that you are unable to find information on our website how to request your records.

In order to look into this, I will need to take more details. I will send you a private message requesting more information so that I can assist with this issue. Just click on the envelope icon at the top of this page.

Re: Subject Access Request / Data Protection Act

Hi Terri

I have not heard from anyone regarding a SAR yet. You passed my information to the cable team, but have not had a response.

Kind regards

Sue

Re: Subject Access Request / Data Protection Act

You can make a verbal request to any part of the business to obtain a copy of your personal data. Be clear about what you want (or make it clear that it is EVERYTHING) and they have one month from the day following your request. If you haven't passed security then you will need to send proof of your ID otherwise it will delay the timeframe.

I would suggest recording calls as you may have to "prove" you made the request and VM don't seem to be very good at recording calls that are actually required as evidence (coincidence?)

Re: Subject Access Request / Data Protection Act

No business I know will accept a verbal request for a SAR.

There is no requirement to do so under any Act/law that I know of to do so.

Really?  May I refer you to https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-data-protection/guide-to-the-general-data-protection-r... which says:

Individuals can make a subject access request verbally or in writing.

The ICO's guide to GDPR is well worth a read.
