Virgin TV Go - Windows 10 app

Hi,

I've recently downloaded the Virgin Tv Go app on Windows 10 through the app store (Sony Vaio).

I can log in and see live channels but anytime I try load a channel it comes up with:

Not Available

Error code: 0x80004005

Sorry, the video cannot be played at this time.

Please can you help?

Thanks

Re: Virgin TV Go - Windows 10 app

Hi WalkerD94,

Thanks for posting on the community.

There may of been an issue with the installation so I'd recommend re-installing the app and testing it again.

Please let me know how you get on.

I have exactly the same issue as WalkerD94.

I have tried reinstalling the app, but still the same error.

Can you please assist.

Re: Virgin TV Go - Windows 10 app

Hi PGGLancs,

Thanks for posting.

Since you have already tried to re-install the app I'd just like to check whether you're able to test TV Go on another device?

Hope to hear from you soon

Re: Virgin TV Go - Windows 10 app

Hi PGGLancs,

Thanks for your reply.

Since you have successfully been able to use TV Go on another device then we know it's not an account issue.

What version of Windows 10 are you using? It will need to be Windows 10 Anniversary Update version 1607 (OS build 14393) or above.

If the app still isn't working are you able to access TV Go using a browser?

Looking forward to hearing from you

Re: Virgin TV Go - Windows 10 app

Thanks for your reply.

Info regarding OS as requested:-

Microsoft Windows 10 Home Version 10.0.16299 Build 16299

I cannot try in a browser as I already have my 2 devices allocated (iPad & TV GO App on laptop). I'm guessing changing from the app to a browser would require a device change even though they are on the same laptop??

Re: Virgin TV Go - Windows 10 app

Bad news I'm afraid  - according to this Microsoft Update is broken and needs a manual fix.  I've been a bit vocal on here about this elsewhere.  Has your laptop ever had Windows 7 on it? If so, you may find this useful: https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Tech-Chatter/Has-anyone-tried-the-new-Windows-10-vers-1709-yet/....

If the CatRoot2 folder already exists WU broke somewhere along the line.  If that's the case try the windows catalog method on the links above.  Hopefully it will reset your WU as it did on my sister's laptop.

Please note that I do have a small nagging doubt that this won't fix your problem.
