Slow broadband speed (Vivid 200) Manchester M4

Hi there! I've been having very poor broadband performance during peak hours, and would like to find out what's going on. Almost every evening now my broadband goes down to about 30mbps, from 200mps. This is all on a wired connection straight to the first port on my router.

Check on myvirginmedia the status in your area to see if there are any know faults, could be a utilisation issue.. too many on at the same time

Hey! Sorry, i did forget to say iveI checked the service status multiple times and everything appears normal.

Hi! Thanks for the reply.

I have tried troubleshooting, as well as the service status checker. I have a PCIe GBE network adaptor that can take 1gbps, and am on a wired connection. During off-peak hours (e.g. right now), my speed is more than acceptable (I'm actually getting 215Mbps right now). However, my speed plummets in the evenings and on weekends, down to about 15Mbps.

I have already had similar issues in London when I last had a virgin media broadband subscription (about 8 years ago), and I am now seeing exactly the same signs in Manchester, so I am 100% certain that the line is oversubscribed and there is congestion. If it would be possible to somehow alleviate this congestion, that would be fantastic!

Thank you for responding. We appreciate you posting all necessary information. This isn't supposed to happen. Certainly not the service we want you to get. Since you've tried to check network status and tried troubleshooting your connection but still getting slow connection, I recommend to speak to our technical team. Some of your downstream levels are on the high side. Recheck your stats once the area works have been done.
