Me9 8rx - area 06

Since Thursday with no changes to my network internet in area 06 has been intermittently slow as well as numerous disconnects.

I'm running a Netgear router with the SH connected as a modem. I'm convinced this is a Virgin issue however when I run their tests is states all ok.

The thought of using their support feels me with dread as I know they'll be useless so does anyone have any ideas?

Hello

How are you doing the speedtest is it either wired or wireless, wired is always the best option. If wired can you please do the following :-

Can you please post your network stats from the hub

Open a Web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) and enter the address http://192.168.0.1

Note: If you have enabled Modem Mode on your Hub 3.0 you will need to use 192.168.100.1 instead.

Do not login but click on where it says "Check Router Stats" and then copy and post from the following 4 tabs, Downstream, Upstream, Configuration and Network logs and we can check your power level, also while you about that can you please go around and check that all connectors to VM equipment are hand tight. Also while doing this please check for any damage to cable, or un-terminated connection without either coax or a terminator.

Also please run "Check service status" at the top right of this forum.

Re: Me9 8rx - area 06

Hi Mike,

Using WiFi as that's how the router gets used in its everyday activity.

What is interesting is this happened from late on last week (Thursday time) and another user on this forum has posted the same area and similar issue. Maybe coincidence but I have a feeling that something is iffy on the Virgin network.

Hello

Using speed tests on wireless is unreliable for example in my own setup I get anywhere between 30mbs - 140 mbs depending on which wireless I am connecting too, virginmedia only guarantee the speed as far as the router, hence why doing a test on a wired connection.

Still if you can do me your stats and certainly can look at them.

Hello

When you do a speedtest what results are you getting, as looking at your downstream and upstream all looks good, the only thing which only a VM staff member can look at for you is that you only seem to have 2 upstream channels.

Re: Me9 8rx - area 06

Hi Mike

Thanks for help so far. Mixed results as youd expect from a wifi connection. It's the drop offs that are the bigger issue seemingly as they started and still seem very intermittent.

Can you clarify how many upstream channels I should have?
