Intermittent broadband and T3 timeouts

Hi there,

Starting on 27th Dec 16 we've been having some problems with our broadband. It doesn't actually disconnect but the internet will just hang for 30 seconds+ at a time. When it resumes, it goes back to the around 70mbps that I pay for. I've tried restarting all equipment to no avail. I've noticed as well that the up/down arrow has been constantly flashing during this period - at least 4-5 times a second.

I've checked the router network log and I'm seeing lots of T3 errors, as below:
30/12/2016 07:20:50 GMT 30/12/2016 07:20:50 GMT Critical (3) 82000200 No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out

Not sure if this is connected, but worth knowing as this is not normal.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do here?

Thanks in advance

Re: Intermittent broadband & T3 timeouts

Hi mtempley1,

Welcome to the Community!

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your connection.

I've run a diagnostic on your equipment and everything is looking great at the moment. No errors, levels as they should be and no network faults. Are you still experiencing the same problems? Let me know and we can look further into it for you.

Speak soon Smiley Very Happy

Re: Intermittent broadband & T3 timeouts

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your reply. The problems seem to have cleared up now. Maybe they were due to christmas/ new years traffic?

If this happens again, do you have any tips for me to try?

Many thanks

Re: Intermittent broadband & T3 timeouts

Hi mtempley1,

Thanks for getting back to me!

I'm glad to hear that's cleared up. If it happens again, drop me a message on here. I'll run a diagnostic on the equipment and try and pin down the issue. Hopefully you won't get any more trouble though!

All the best! Smiley Very Happy

Re: Intermittent broadband & T3 timeouts

Hi Josh,

This issue appears to have resurfaced over the past few days. I've copied upstream and downstream pages from router status below. That total of 51 T3 timeouts was within approx 30-40 mins and internet was virtually unusable during this period. Although power levels are at around 48dBmV at time of snapshot, I did see it go to as high as 52.75dBmV (not sure if that makes a difference). Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

Re: Intermittent broadband & T3 timeouts

Hello mtempley1

Sorry you had problems but excellent observation thank you. It looks like it may have been due to intermittent upstream noise, when this happens upstream packets may get dropped or delayed, the hub will be instructed by our end to wind the upstream power level up to compensate. Looking back there were a few area issues although it is difficult to say for certain they were the cause of your problem. If it happens again please would you note the date/times so we may check our logs.

Thank you

Nicola
