Intermittent Broadband Speeds

Good Morning,

I've just upgraded to Vivid 350 and received a new Hub 3.0 which is running in modem mode with an Ubiquity Edgerouter X running behind it.

Since the upgrade I'm experiencing very intermittent speeds. I managed to hit 377Mbps on occasions, but 10 minutes later it could drop down to 20Mbps. I've setup a monitor to check every 30 minutes and it varies quite a lot.

I attempted to talk with the support team via web chat last night, but I was pretty much fobbed off because I wouldn't follow the suggestions on his script and told the fault was with my equipment. (I don't see how booting my Windows machine into Safe Mode and running the test is going to help, when I experience the issue on my Linux and MacOS machine also).

I don't like to act superior, but I work in IT as a Network and SysAdmin so I'm pretty certain I have checked everything from my side of things. All I asked is that they could check everything their side for me.

Checking the hub logs, i'm getting some warnings and critical errors saying "RCS Partial Service" "No Ranging Response received" "Service Add Response rejected - Invalid transaction ID" "Lost MDD Timeout". I'm not sure if these are relevant or not?

My down stream and upstreams are pasted below.

I'd appreciate any advice anyone can offer, or if anyone from Virgin can do any checks for me?

Thanks in advance

Re: Intermittent Broadband Speeds

You have a loose fitting or a damaged cable.  Channel 6 and 7 SNR is too low

Re: Intermittent Broadband Speeds

Ah brilliant! Thank you so much for the quick reply 🙂

I'll check the fittings again later to be sure, but I'm pretty certain they seemed to be tight. If it is a damaged cable, do Virgin send out replacements, or do I need to book an engineer?
