Hub 3 thinks its a sky router

We had a power cut yesterday and it came back on fine after that but when i went to use the internet this morning i was greeted to a sky 'your connection has dropped' page. i am connected straight to the hub with an ethernet cable. i mentioned it when i rang 150 to tell them we had no internet and the lady on the other end of the phone had no idea what i was on about. i have no idea why this would happen.sky router 1.pptx.jpg

Has your machine also got a WiFi connection? I should power off you hub leave for a few minutes and then power on again, might fix the problem.

Re: Hub 3 thinks its a sky router

Hello MrABBA

How intriguing, do you have a Sky broadband connection available in the house or I wonder perhaps if the page was cached on the computer, did you used to have Sky at one time. It may also be worth checking the computer for any installed Sky programs.

Thank you

Nicola

Re: Hub 3 thinks its a sky router

Reset the hub with a paper clip to press the pinhole reset button for 20 seconds.

Re: Hub 3 thinks its a sky router

Wow that's interesting problem.

and I checked the date and it isn't 1st April.

And do you still have this problem after a week..

so

There is no way that web page is comming from your Virgin Hub (I assume it does say virgin on the side and not sky).

You're not using Wifi so haven't inadvertently hijacked a neighbours internet via wifi.

If you're using powerlines then it is possible you have hijacked theirs via those, if so try a direct ethernet connection.

Try switching off the superhub, do you still get that page.

are you sure this i'snt a wind up?

what happens if you click on 'lets fix it'

with it switched off try pinging 192.168.0.1

try typing 'tracert 192.168.0.1' at your command line. (with it off and with it on).

try using a different browser.

do you also get this when using a phone or another computer.

Re: Hub 3 thinks its a sky router

i am connected directly into the router using an Ethernet cable. I still get the page after i leave it unplugged for 10 minutes. If i press lets fix it it says 'ERROR 401 access denied'. It happens on all of the devices in the house WiFi and Ethernet.
