Re: Can’t send email via home WiFi

Just heading to work but it did show there was a blockage on the CSS list which I have unblocked...I tried to send an email this morning, got the same error message (sigh)

Re: Can’t send email via home WiFi

It can take around 12-24 hours for the change to register on VM's and due to the way big companies use these blacklists.

If however you are still getting the same thing tonight, post back and I will ask that Emily escalates this.

Tim

Edit - do check that the CSS entry had definitely gone first.

Is your IP still blacklisted?

Re: Can’t send email via home WiFi

You evidently have malware on one or more devices.  The CBL is a real time blacklist that indicates your IP is compromised.

You should run anti virus and anti malware scans.

Re: Can’t send email via home WiFi

Hiya.

Downloaded Mcafee on both devices, both say nothing on them ...also, might be a silly question but why would it let me send from either device on 4G/hotspot but it only complains when it’s wifi? Am starting to give up with this...

Re: Can’t send email via home WiFi

So, still can’t send emails via WiFi tonight, checked spamhaus and it now only says

is listed in the SBL

to check in the sblcss

the other 2 lines are green

not sure where to go from here

Should I try unblocking it again?

Re: Can’t send email via home WiFi

@Faerie1

You need to understand what's happening here.

  • Emails are being sent from your home IP address that are causing it to be blacklisted on the CSS, this could be sent from any device on your home network.  Note Virgin Media has nothing to do with the blacklisting
  • The CSS listing is causing Virgin Media to reject authentication attempts from your home IP.  When you are away from home or using a 4G network - you send from a different IP so Virgin Media allows the authentication attempt.
  • That the blacklist entry has returned means you need to have a closer look at everything on your network.

Besides using McAfee, I would also consider using Malwarebytes (Free edition) to scan your systems.
