Cancellation confirmation

I cancelled my services with VM a couple of weeks again via an online chat as my discount period/contract ended and prices shot up again.  I’ve had no confirmation through or any correspondence for that matter confirming the cancellation and end date. I did another live chat to confirm my cancellation and was advised they will only send a confirmation email out once the cancellation date has been reached. From previous experience I’ve found I’ve had several calls after cancelling to offer me better deals etc but I’ve not heard a thing which is odd. I’m worried my cancellation hasn’t been recorded properly or something as I have no proof or confirmation and I’m going to end up paying out for an extra month not needed at a ridiculous price! Anyone else had similar issues of late?
