Issues with transfer to O2 from Virgin Mobile, not happy.

AllPointsNorth1

Ok. So I'll start off by saying that if this sounds like a rant, maybe that's because it is.

I have been forcibly transferred from Virgin Mobile to O2, despite a good few years of allegiance to VM.  My first day as an O2 customer has sucked like a limpet on a flat wet rock, and it's getting worse.

4G speed has dropped, tethering to my PC is being throttled, I can't send or receive text messages, and the normal web APN is glitching something chronic.  Sometimes I can get on, sometimes I can't.

I'd already told VM when first notified that I didn't wish to transfer to O2, I wanted to remain a VM customer, because the service was better, the contract was better and I wanted customer services who would speak to me, not dismiss my queries or hang up on me, as they (O2) have before.

Well now, I can't even get hold of them to talk about the absolute state of their network.  I am wondering if they're planning on sitting back and waiting till the kerfuffle dies down.

For the love of God, please bring your mobile service back in-house.  You should never have merged with O2.   Why change what isn't broken?

I'm sorry to say but if this doesn't get sorted out, and you take O2 to task for their shoddy service, the next bill I pay will be my last.  I'd rather be without a contract, than be with O2.

Best way to contact O2 and not sit on the phone

It's probably something simple as you have been using the O2 network since before Christmas and reception and speeds should be the same

Message O2 on
Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB

The company is VMO2, a 50:50 joint venture, and all mobile customers are being migrated to O2 by the end of 2023. If you have an O2 problem call them again on 789.

I tried calling them on 789.  The number no longer works - I just get told that the number I've called has not been recognised.  I tried calling 150.  That one tells me it has not been possible to connect the call.  I've tried O2's own customer service number, 4445, found the option for technical support, sat in a queue for an hour, got through to someone, and when I started explaining my problem, they hung up.

VMO2 is the biggest mistake ever.  No help, no support, no point.

I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with the migration to O2.

If you have now been migrated to O2, you would need to speak with them directly please regarding any issues.

I am sorry you didn't have a good experience over the phone.

Thank you Vikki.  Yes, I'm unhappy with the migration to O2.  I told VM when I was first notified, that O2's customer services were terrible.  That's the whole reason I came to Virgin Mobile in the first place, because I was a customer of O2, and fed up to the back teeth of O2's atrocious attitude to their customers.  I love VM, but they made a huge mistake tying up with O2.  They're going to weigh you down like a lead brick.

Me too. I am exceedingly unhappy about this. All my work comes in through my phone and the service is so bad now. I want back to efficiency.

Hi @Vmk

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. Sorry to hear you're not happy with the merger.
