Just switched to Virgin but need my old BT phone number

Just switched to Virgin but need my old BT phone number.

I was not given the option to keep my old number when I signed up to Virgin so how do I get old number ported over?

Is the old BT line with the number you want to port still working?

Is it a BT-owned number you want to port?

When did you switch to VM?

It was BT via Sky. I was with Virgin for many years prior to switching to Sky , same phone number throughout for 10+ years.

Last Friday switched to VM

I just dialled my old number and it’s engaged … so I guess it’s still working?
