TV box has an error

The box keeps going to a green screen and having a pixilated recording play back that crashes (funny colors). Also the sound goes off and needs to be restarted all the time.

Does the screen say, "the DVR has detected a serious problem and is trying to fix it; do not switch off for 3 hours”? If so this message is commonly known as the green screen of death. It means that your hard drive has failed. It's not very often that the box is able to recover from this, and if by some miracle it does, then it's only a  matter of time before it fails completely.

You've posted in the Tivo forum. VM have recently stopped issuing new Tivo boxes. They are being replaced with the newer V6 boxes, which are able to record 6 programs at once.  The V6 boxes also have the Amazon Prime app and are able to display 4K content.  You do need to have broadband with VM to be able to have a V6 box though.

You should call  150 from a Virgin landline or mobile, or 0345 454 1111, option 2 (Faults

When calling Faults ignore all the options and don't press any buttons then you should be placed into a queue and an agent should pick up the phone and book the tech for you.

Or wait a day or two and a member of the Forum Team should pick this up for you and arrange a tech visit.

Hi @adebisi thanks for your post although we're sorry to hear of the concerns you've raised here.

There aren't any issues on the line at the moment with your TiVo box, it is appearing online and working currently so have things stabilised since your post?

Hi. It is ok at the right now but some of the recordings seem to be messed up and sometimes it restarts by itself. The other thing is the sound keeps going off until reset.

Thank you so much for popping back to us and we are glad things are looking a little better, but I am sorry that there are issues with the recordings. 

Can I ask if you have checked the cables are in and secure? Are all recordings effected or just certain channels?

Seems random and the cables seem ok. Never mind we can live with the errors we can stop using the recordings as much and use the catch up apps on the tv. Thanks for trying to help.
