Hub 5 / Apple device issues

Hi All,

I went from 1gb hub 4 to a hub 5 with 500mbps package, I changed the new hub 5 SSID to match my old hub, most devices came over without a hitch & some just needed a password re-entered.

For some reason though the 2 devices I use the most my iPhone & MacBook Air will randomly disconnect from my main router, then when I click onto it to connect it keeps asking me for the password, when im typing the password correctly sometimes it joins me to the network sometimes it doesn't. I have 2 AP as well which I use as the 2.4ghz & 5ghz channel, had them well before the hub 4 & never had a problem, now I've got the hub 5 and my apple devices struggle to connect.

is there a setting on the advanced router settings that I need to change to stop this from happening? I've also performed a network reset on both iPhone & MacBook Air but it still keeps happening.

Interesting.  A long time ago I had a HUB 3 and had that same problem.  I even had Apple support look at it and they could not assist.  In the end I bought my own router.  My MacBook would connect OK on the 2.4ghz network but was very flaky on the 5.0ghz network.  Back in the Autumn last year I got the HUB 5.  This connects well on all devices and I have ditched my own router.

I do not work for VM. Services: 2 x HD TV (+ Sky Sports, BT sport), x2 Tivo boxes (WiFi) Hub5 1gb, Talk Weekend Phone on IP, o2 Mobile SIM on iPhone, unlimited data, texts & minutes.

APPLE CONNECTION ISSUES

No connectivity on Apple kit may be a MAC filtering issue for Apple devices - see if this has the solution for you….

After a MacOS/iOS update, it may auto turn on Automatic Proxy Discovery for all Wi-Fi networks - so turn it off in network settings as per message 7 below . In iOs go to Settings>WiFi> tap the blue”I” icon and scroll down and make sure Configure Proxy/‘ is set to off - also that Configure DNS and Configure IP are set to automatic
