Contract ending - £100 more each month!

Hi,

Has anyone else been given this crazy "offer" - I have been a customer probably since around 1996/7 always paid and had decent service etc.

But my contract runs out in August and been told it will go up by £40 in August and the £100 in September! Crazy!

Called up today but the price increase to stay exactly the same - with no difference looks like it will still be £40 (minimum) per month! Much much much cheaper surely to just cut ties and got with Sky direct and some of the multiple other internet providers.

What's everyone else doing?

I've left VM twice and moved elsewhere.  I only came back with "Black Friday" deals.  I'll most likely do the same again once the 18 month discounts run out.  Many years ago, there did seem to be some loyalty deals, but recently not.  Just vote with your feet, if you can't get a good deal.

However, note if you are using any BY/NTL/VM mailboxes, these will be purged after 90 days.  This didn't affect me as I moved my mailboxes away some time ago to a non ISP supplied mail service.

In fairness, the Broadband from VM has been pretty good, so I didn't leave for that reason, just the price.

Its just so annoying - even now - i just had a call - £88 to keep the same package - excellent! But we have to take off TNT... ok... how much with it? £119.50 - i then tried to understand £31.50 for TNT sports... and she hung up...

TNT Sports is now an additional £25 a month, not £31.50.

PS - when signing up as a new customer it was around 104.99 plus the extra from netflix - but was quoted over 126!

Research other providers then give your 30 day notice as you not happy with current offer.

You MAY get a call back within 30 days. If you haven't done this before, it's more likely, and probably within 48-72 hours. If you have done this in the past, you may not get SMS texts with offers until 2-3 days before actual termination. You can cancel the cancel at any time before termination. There is no guaranteed call back though.

New customers usually get the best deals these days and you only need to have left for 90 days before coming back as a new customer. Cashback from topcashback wont apply in that time because you need to have been away for 12 months or more.

I had to leave, slum it it on FTTC monthly (NOW Broadband, but monthly doesn't exist anymore) for a few months then re-join under a great Black Friday offer, at best price ever for GIG1, because my retentions chat was horrendous and messed around with transfers of calls etc.
