Hi,
I recently upgraded from 250m to Gig 1.
I am receiving below speeds on a wired connection, which is an absolute joke considering I am on gigabyte connection.
I can barely load a Youtube video let a alone work from home or use internet for gaming with this broadband.
Could anyone more technical perhaps check my router logs and see if they can spot any problems in advance?
I have managed to book an engineer for Friday so maybe they can diagnose the issue.
However, any input on the logs or anything else would be much appreciated in advance of engineer arriving.
I have done the usual multiple times already:

The HUB specs are all over the place.
I can't tell if it's a local outage or just a bad line.
Regardless VM need to investigate further.

Thanks for the input Carl.
I have tried the number 08005610061 and every time I have checked this week they say there aren't any known issues in my area.
I have also tried to check the service check website for VM and no issues or faults are shown in my area.
I guess it's something down to me alone...

Just an update from the morning of 29/06/2023.
The speeds this morning are fine, no disconnects so far.
Ethernet Speed (Note my PC is connected through Powerline so I know the PC download speed is capped at 200mbps but the router is receiving the data at 1gig for now.)
Wifi speed
It seems to be totally random as last night the speeds were terrible and I had a couple of disconnects from the internet totally both in Ethernet and Wifi.
I don't know what's causing these random speed drops and rooter disconnects...

Hello evasion,
Hope you are okay barring the random speed issues.
I have ran a check on your hub from here and can see you have a Service Technician booked to come out.
Would you be able to let us know how the visit goes please.

Hi Gareth,
I am well apart from the annoying internet issues that I had for the past week.
At the moment it seems internet is doing well, since this morning I have had great speeds and no disconnects so far.
Let's see if it holds in the evening, as usually the issues start in the evening.
I had a look outside of my house and I have an old NTL box still with what appears to be a very old underground fibre cable, most of my neighbors have new VM boxes with recently installed cables. So maybe I just have a bad signal due to the old cabling.
All through I have been with VM on a 250m connection for nearly a year an never had such problems. So I don't what changed...
Anyway, I will see what the technician says tomorrow or fingers crossed my internet resolves it's issues by itself as right now the speeds are great.
Thanks.

Thanks for replying evasion.
We are sure the engineer will check the external box as well as the connections in the cabinet.
Looking forward to seeing what happens.

Just posting for the record.
It's the evening of 29/06/2023 and as usual the broadband is unusable again.
Getting constant disconnects every few minutes and the speeds are terrible, can barely load a website or a youtube video, online video games are unplayable due to terrible connection and extremely high ping.
Trying speed test I am getting 0mpbs upload sometimes 4mbps upload and router download speed ranged between 4mbps to 200mbps.
Will post tomorrow after engineer visits.

Hi Gareth,
The engineer was here and found the fault.
As I suspect it's the issue with the underground fibre cable. It's fully exposed on the driveway.... Including my neighbors cable.
Engineer said he will hand this over to Kelly Communications group who will come and check if they can re-pull the cable as apparently new cable is likely needed here.
However, engineer mentioned that Kelly Communications might say that they can't do the job if it's a private road which I hope it's not since this is a public road.
Anyway, looks like it's the worst possible outcome.
I will wait for Kelly Communications to get in touch and then see what they say.
If Kelly can't do anything then I can't stay with VM as I cannot have constant internet drop outs but I do hope they can do something...
Thanks.

Hi Gareth,
Posting this for the record.
I had a visit from Kelly Communications today on 01/07/2023.
The two people who arrived from Kelly Communications told me that this job will require construction work and that they will book a job for this in the next 5 days.
I asked them if Kelly Communications will be contacting me regarding the job or Virgin Media. They said it will be Virgin Media.
I will be waiting for Virgin Media to provide me with a date of when the construction work will be carried out by Kelly Communications.
Hopefully it won't take long as the broadband is not in a very usable state and costs quite a lot of money.
Thanks.
