Modem speed and burglar alarm issues

VM changed our modem recently as we had complained of very slow and poor connection. However shortly after our landline stopped working so they came back and "boosted" the signal. This then caused our burglar alarm to stop working. It turns out our burglar alarm only runs at 2.4GHz so our modem has to run at the same speed. However this means that our internet speed is now down to 41Mbps which is way too slow. Has anyone got a suggestion

All VM Hubs operate Wi-Fi on both 2.4 and 5Ghz channels at the same time, so there is no reason why the Wi-Fi speed should have dropped.    41Mbps suggests a connection on the 2.4Ghz band, that may be caused by the device not supporting 5Ghz or due to location in the home.

You can choose which band each of your devices connects on by going into the Hub's settings and changing the SSID on one or both bands so they are different.  Then set the alarm to use 2.4GHz and other devices that need more speed to use the 5GHz band.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.
