Virgin 360 is appalling
I’ve just submitted this as a complaint and I’m copying my complaint here. I wish I’d read these reviews before I upgraded. It looks like I’m not the only one. I called three weeks ago to report a minor fault on my TiVo box. I was advised “you need to upgrade to Virgin 360“. Your technician advised me with all confidence, “It’s much better, it’s quicker, you’ll have much more facilities than you have on the V6 system.” I did as I was advised. He was lying through his teeth. Virgin 360 is absolutely atrocious. Far worse than the V6 system I’ve enjoyed for 10-15 years. Far worse in every respect. The only benefit it gives me a occasionally being able to log onto other TV channels such as iPlayer and ITV X, which is of no use to me because I can do that from my smart TV. Let me list for you the way in which it is abysmal. It fails to record programs which I have set. It records a program but only records half of it. It records a completely different program to the one I’ve set, (I was actually watching a TV program late night, pressed record and went to bed, and when I got up the next morning it had recorded something completely different.) Frequently, very often, when I go to play a show I have recorded and which is showing in my recordings I get an error message, saying the show cannot be played. This happens a lot. When I login into iPlayer, next time I go to iPlayer, it wants me to login with a QR code all over again. This has happened to me several times in one week. Logging straight back in is about 50% effective. Numerous programs and channels showing in the TV Guide, I can no longer record. That never happened under V6. In addition, there are all those facilities I used to have that are no longer available. I used to be able to: Pause and go forward in slow motion Pause and go forward a frame at a time. (Useful watching sport). Go forward on record recordings or paused TV 15 minutes at a time. Watch at accelerated speed with Sound. Fast forward and when I press pause, it would jump back slightly so I hadn’t overshot what I was looking for. Move the TV guide forward in two hour blocks. Revert to the previous channel I was watching, with one click of a dedicated button. Subdivide my recordings into movies only, or partially watched. Recover recordings which I had deleted recently. And the remote control had dedicated buttons for, “info“, “subtitles,“ “my recordings” Overall, the previous V6 system apart from one or two minor issues, was flexible, user friendly and extremely robust. In contrast the 360 system is inflexible, flaky, falling apart, not user friendly, not enjoyable to use at all. Absolutely F@@@ useless.46Views0likes4CommentsTV box inside a cabinet.....
Hi all, I want to put my TV box inside a cabinet but imagine the remote won't work I less I leave the cabinet door open. I remember this issue years ago with Sky and I managed to get a 'magic eye' which enabled me to connect and receiver for the remote. Do VM do something similar? Or any other ideas on what I could do? Thanks 👍62Views0likes4CommentsHandset - Not Thought Out Very Well!
When we switched over to Virgin 360 we received a new handset. Compared to the previous handed we used this one isn't ergonomically designed very well; it's as if the person designing it never tried to use it. I find that the (for instance) Mute button being on the bottom of the handset isn't very practical and causes complication in holding the handset to use the mute feature; the old handset was ergonomically designed so as to have the mute button where you could reach it comfortably. Do you find the Virgin 360 handset awkward to use; I do.61Views1like3CommentsWhat am I doing with these remotes?
Just received my 2 remotes. Already have 2 x V6 boxes. Understood that you can upgrade to 360 using the remotes but I cant find instructions for this. Also read that all recordings need to be deleted before the upgrade, is this true? Can anyone help me please? Can you explain in layman's terms, I am not very good with technical stuff, thanks 😁😁Solved138Views0likes7Comments360 remote no switch app on v6
Received 360 remote 4 days ago. Current box is v6 Have spent hours searching tips etc & following online instructions including disconnecting v6 box, rebooting wifi etc etc and still no switch app on the apps page. All options I can see online are now exhausted. Spent 2 hours trying to speak to virgin customer services and continually placed in a doom loop of recorded messages then cut off. Can't get through to a human. Have given up so any advice welcome. Thank you.83Views0likes3CommentsUpgraded from V6 to 360 and new remote does nothing
I've just completed the upgrade and am in the new interface. My old Virgin remote works but the new remote does absolutely nothing other than flash a white light at the top right of the remote. I've restarted the box and also removed the batteries in the new remote, replaced them and held the TV button + 0 for 10 seconds - again just flashes white. My VM box is behind the TV in a media wall. For the old remote this isn't an issue, will it be an issue with the new remote?Solved148Views0likes1CommentCan't change volume on TV with Virgin 360 remote
I've tried the key test on settings. Nothing happens when I press mute. I've tried resetting and repairing using the TV+0 and TV +<<< combinations. I've tried turning off and back on at mains. It's paired to the correct TV. I get a notification saying I should now be able to control volume with my virgin remote, and yet I can't. Any ideas? I've looked through most of the related threads on here, and haven't found anything that has worked. ThanksSolved359Views1like5CommentsV6 not recording during standby
I have recently had my V6 TV box upgraded via software to 360 and have also received a new remote. In the settings there is a standby mode with timings of 4,5,6 & 24hrs before the box will switch off if idle and hasn't detected any active device connected to it. This creates a problem if I want to set to record programmes further ahead of 24hrs as when I am away the box will switch off and will therefore not record the set programmes. There is no setting I can find to switch off standby mode. I recently changed the standby timer from 4 to 24hrs as I found the box switched off when idle and did not record any scheduled programmes. Switching to 24hrs has made no difference other than keep the box awake longer so increasing the possibility of detecting a signal from my TV when it is switched on. This is particularly irritating in that if I am away for more than 24hrs there is no certainty that any scheduled recordings will proceed. My tv has a standby mode which can be disabled why has this new 'improved' Virgin box not have the same facility. My current standby settings are active start, 24hrs. My 360 box is Arris-DCX960-MPA+. Please advise if there is a software issue or a possible fault with the box (please note there was no issue before the software upgrade). Regards212Views0likes7CommentsProblems with 360 upgrade
I have a V6 box and received the remote to upgrade to 360. The problem is that the new software was installed but is now stuck on the video about the Remote and use of 360. The remote won't work on the screen or to switch off the box. I can use the remote though to switch through sources and the TV button works. I have tried all the suggestion on this Forum for switching the box on and off at wall socket, and with On-Off switch coupled with the power and + and/or - button. I've also switched the internet off and on. Any suggestions?Solved312Views0likes5Comments
