Installation by engineer

Installation booked in but received text offering earlier offering, immediately replied confirming earlier appt, Virgin confirmed receipt & get back shortly, but nothing.  Does this mean someone beat me to the earlier installation slot?  Left hanging...

I’m going away for 4 weeks on holiday. If I turn my VM hub etc power off at the socket will I just be able to start it up as normal or will I have to contact VM cause I haven’t used it for so long. TIA
