I would like to change my package and I keep getting call from virgin media to assist me.

In every phone cal I receive I’ve been advised to take up O2 sim so that I can add sky sports and remove sky cinema.

my contract expires in June.

is it better to wait until contract expires?

Being offered the O2 SIM may be to take advantage of multibuy bundle discounts that are particularly generous on telephony products and often more than offset their cost. There's no compulsion to use that SIM if you don't want to.

You will almost certainly get better retentions results when you're in a position to give cancellation notice, rather than when you're effectively breaking an 18month minimum term.
