Faster Upload speed
Hi all My contract is coming up to finish shortly and I'm looking to get symmetrical speeds, How do I find out if this is available to me? If its not available then ill need to move away from Virgin considering I could pay the same to another company and get the symmetrical speeds I desire. Cheers Ryan70Views0likes6CommentsWifi and upload nightmare issues.
Across all our devices for the last 4 months wifi connected devices are intermittently not loading, they just drop off to mobile data or say connected no Internet. We are on the gig bundle. When doing Sam knows tests all looks fine but it's not. The engineers even experienced it when here. When doing speed test downloads speeds are fine but errors out on upload. Had 3 engineer visits, a new hub a new booster, One engineer said he found a ghost network. Even when all hubs etc where off still showing the network. It's driving us crazy, wifi tvs connect and seconds later lose the network again. As do all mobile devices, laptops etc... Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated20Views0likes2CommentsPlayStation 5 Upload Speed Very Slow
I recently purchased a PlayStation Portal (streaming handheld) and have not been able to use it because my PS5 console upload speed is too slow to maintain a connection. My Virgin Media hub is in modem mode, connected to an Asus GT-AX6000 router. A speed test completed on the Asus gives an average of 90 Mbps download and 25 Mbps upload. This is more than enough to stream up to the web and then down to the Portal. On my PlayStation console the speed test shows 90 Mbps download but only 3 Mbps second upload. It is this very slow upload that is causing my problem. Sony recommends 5 Mbps minimum to connect to the Portal, and 15 Mbps upload for the best connection. I am testing this with no other network traffic competing for the bandwidth. My PS5 is connected via Ethernet. I have tried connecting the PS5 direct to the modem (no GT-AX6000) and it doesn’t help. With the GT-AX6000 connected I have also tried prioritising the PS5 and Portal traffic in QoS but this hasn’t helped. I’ve rebooted devices and confirmed they are all running latest firmware. I have read several other posts saying PS5 upload speed is very slow (<5 Mbps) despite the connection being a lot faster, but I can’t figure out what is causing mine to run so slowly. Any help would be appreciated thanks!8.8KViews0likes2CommentsUpload speed capped at 50 Mbps
Hello, I have a 1 Gbps download speed but my uplaod speed is capped at 50 Mbps. I called customer service and they said that it should be around the 400 amd they don't know what the issue is. They said that they will send a technitian but not for another 3 weeks. Is there anything that can be done from my side for this to be fixed? Anyone else has the same issue?1.1KViews0likes9CommentsSymmetric speed saga
I was really excited to see symmetric speed available in my area (a XGSPON area) when it was first launched by VM. I requested it 5 different attempts via online chat with lots of different answers ranging from 'It's not available' to 'it will cost an extra £26/month'. After the 4th attempt I opened a complaint. The complaint responded saying I could have 1Gb + symmetric for a total of £45/month and asked me to reply - I did. Then today I get a phone call from a customer service person who rescinded the £45/month offer and said "It's not available, it's only available to 2k customers as a trial"... even though I told him if i go on the site and attempt to sign up as a new customer I have the option to select it, and none of the statements from VM or on ISP Review state it's a trial. He couldn't answer and just seemed keen to close my complaint. I said I was not happy with the non-explanation given, and then 5 mins later I get an email saying he's closed my complaint - even though I said i wasn't satisfied that the complaint had been dealt with. I've since reopened the complaint and am hoping it can get sorted by someone who knows what they're doing. My original install of VM was abysmal and resulted in a hefty charge to VM - I thought it'd be much easier than this to try and pay VM more money by getting an upgrade. The fact I've had to open a complaint to try and pay VM more money is ludicrous.1.9KViews0likes12CommentsHaving issues with Upload, possible throttling | Thinking about cancelling.
At approximately 18:30 each evening, I've noticed a significant drop in my upload speed. Despite troubleshooting on my end, it seems this issue may stem from external throttling measures rather than internal network issues. This inconsistency in upload speed has been disruptive to my online activities. Additionally, I believe the pricing for my broadband package may not align with the level of service I'm receiving. Despite attempts to reach out for assistance, I've faced difficulties in connecting with someone who can address these concerns directly. I'm reaching out to the Virgin Media forums for assistance and clarification on these matters. Any insights or resolutions provided would be greatly appreciated. I'm on the 350Mbs Package, this has only just started happening since returning to live streaming. Approximately 3 weeks ago. I don't stream over WiFi, only ethernet. Thank you for your attention to this matter Brandon936Views0likes5CommentsInternet dropping every few hours, lost packages, intermittent connection (few years already)
Dear Community, I would like to say thank you to anyone involved, and a big thank you for your time spent. I appreciate any work on this, especially since the issue began impacting me more when I started working from home occasionally. Also, online gaming become very frustrating. Problem: Internet dropping, lost packages, intermittent connection (a few years already) More info: It is happening on all devices, x2 wired PCs, and x2 laptops on wifi, and mobile phones. I have called Viring Media about it and they came and replaced my old hub with version 5 but still the same. I have been with Viring Media for the past 5 years and I noticed the issue about 3 years ago. The internet will work fine for a few hours straight until it starts to drop. The lost connection is intermittent, it will work for 1 minute just to stop for 20-30 seconds and again and gain from at least 10-15 minutes and then back to working again for another few hours. I am attaching some data that I have seen was useful on other similar threads. When I experience the issues I see this when pinging bbc. The Windows tray icon will show no internet. These were taken from the HUB when the internet was working fine, I can try to capture when this is happening if needed. Does anyone see something wrong here? Many thanks for all your help.
