How many gigabytes I have downloaded and uploaded every month?

I want to know how much I have used my broadband. For example, how many GB I download and upload every month? Is there a way I can check or obtain this data?

    Knows their stuff

Customer Services have it on their systems, but no end user endpoint to the data.

Put VM router into modem mode, get your own router, like an Asus (>£120 model) and then flash with Merlin firmware (more bug fixed and a few extra features over stock firmware, and is approved by Asus as they oversee and supply developer with source code and bug fixes). Check Merlin's supported list of routers before buying. You simply use the router's inbuilt firmware upgrade function to point at a downloaded firmware file from Merlin's site. As easy as that.

Then you can see what URLS your devices visit, and see how much traffic upload and download you do per day/week/month and what the differing traffic types are e.g. Disney, Netflix and many others. Fancy bar charts, the lot. On Merlin's firmware you can then SSH into the router and easily  install add-ons like ad-blocking for every device, and you can create exceptions, and do other things like Secure DNS lookups over TLS with DNSSec support. Apart from some of the SSH add-ins, its all configurable by GUI.

  • Hi BAZZER567

Thanks for posting and welcome back to the community. It's not something we have access too I'm afraid.

I've done a check for you on other methods, closest I can see is using your own Router in Modem Mode as it provides that function.

    Best wishes.

  • Is this on a single Windows based device?

Windows has its own 'Data Usage' stats, however, this can be inconsistent based on local traffic:

Upload and Download isn't specifically taken into consideration.

Why does it matter how much you download and upload?

It doesn't, but if you want to you should be able to access the info.

I wouldn't be surprised if VM gave up logged how much you download and upload.
