Just spent 90 mins trying to get through to the cancellations department. I spoke with a lovely lady went through al the security checks asked for alternative phone number just in case we got cut off.
low and behold we did get cut off and still NO call back from the cancellation team.
this is a joke and waste of time.
if I get through again I shall not have the small talk and cancel straight away

Not holding my breath as they appear not to care about the customer

If you simply wish to cancel, with no further negotiation or discussion with VM …

You can cancel your services by post as per info below

https://www.virginmedia.com/help/cancel-virgin-media

You can send your leaving request by post to:

Virgin Media, Sunderland, SR43 4AA

Use a first-class, signed-for delivery service. This will give you a date/time of delivery when you gave VM your 30 days’ notice to cancel. Also keep a record of the tracking number.

If you cancel during a minimum term period VM may charge you early disconnection fees.

You can share your unhappy cancellation experience with OFCOM.

They launched an investigation into VM on 13 July 2023 specifically into VM's cancellation and complaints processes.

https://www.ofcom.org.uk/about-ofcom/bulletins/enforcement-bulletin/open-cases/cw_01275

Case ref. no. and an email at the bottom of the above page or submit with same info via the contact form

https://ofcomforms.secure.force.com/formentry/SitesFormCCTMonitoring

Submitting information won't help your individual complaint but it will contribute to the OFCOM investigation and it sounds like your experience is directly relevant to the terms of reference of the investigation.

Tuning in

I back up the previous answer, we were told 2 times that it had been cancelled but in reality they cancelled nothing. We sent a recorded letter with the cancellation request. As of yesterday we are free from them, using a 5G router and a £14 smarty(offer 1 year) sim with typical speed between 500-750 mb.

However although they should have only taken 3 days DD from our last bill as their leaving guide said they would comes as no surprise they took the full month.  I will no longer interact with them via phone/online I will send a recorded delivery letter stating I require a box for the equipment to be sent and 30 days notice fro the to return the money or I will start charging them storage for their equipment.
