No wall socket
Hello! I recently moved into a new flat and received a self-installation kit for broadband. However, the wall socket I initially thought was appropriate does not seem to be the correct one for the connection. I know that Virgin Media broadband is available in the building, as other tenants have active connections. Could you advise me on the next steps? Should I book an engineer appointment, or is there something else I should check first? Thank you for your help.SolvedNo wall socket, only telephony. VM shut off prior provider.
Hello, Sadly due to not being informed until the last day of delivery, I've accepted the quick start package for my 1000mb broadband. I've got my broadband with no virgin media wall socket. As far as I can tell (I'm in an attic apartment 4 stories up, free reign of building and landlords permissions etc) there is no wall socket in the entire building, or outside. There are hanging cables at the front door, 3 stories down but no female versions. VM are sending an engineer out on the 3rd of Feb, over a month from call. My BIG problem here is that they've automatically cancelled my previous supply of broadband. So now I've nothing. Does anyone know if I can speak to virgin directly and get at least some form of Internet through the TEL socket, or if I can make sure they know to bring a cherry picker if required on day the engineer visits? As the telephone pole around the back is not as tall as this 4 story building. I'd even be happy to pay but the man who arranged the appointment didn't seem to understand that the engineer is likely to come and cancel the job. 1+ month of no Internet and no possible way to fix this only to then be told its not a possible fix is very important to avoid as my work requires it. Please advise!! Thank you!Fixing virgin media wall socket
I want to move my wifi router in my room, but the socket is damaged (it was already damaged before i moved in). The reason I want to move it is because my house has three floors and the router is currently at the bottom floor, so the wifi is weak in certain areas. I also want to build a pc and connect it to the router via ethernet. I've attached a picture below. Is there a way I can get someone to come home and fix it? If yes, is it going to cost money or is it free? Thanks in advance for the help.662Views0likes4CommentsMissing Wall Socket for QuickStart kit
Hi all, I have recently ordered a quick start kit however I don’t seem to have a compatible connection to plug the router into. I have no VirginMedia wall box ( only an openreach Ethernet and phone line connection box), however I was under the impression a QuickStart kit would only be sent out if my home had a previous virgin connection? I have a number of cables which appear to be coax cables which can be seen below, are any of these compatible with virgin broadband? Thanks in advance, Nathan2.2KViews0likes2CommentsQuickStart, not sure if I have the VM wall socket
Hi all! I recently moved home and VM told me QuickStart installation would be possible at the new address. I tried to install the broadband but there wasn’t any VM wall socket. The only thing I can find that would fit the cable is an optical converter? I’ve attached a photo in the post. Is this where the cable should go? Thanks in advance! Edit: When I turned the hub (hub 3) on, it keeps on flashing the green light with the wifi icon lit up as green too.Wall socket doesn’t fit
Hi, My partner and I have just moved into a new place, we saw that it had a virgin box on the wall so we thought we could just order it and set it up ourselves. The wall socket cable doesn’t fit in it unfortunately though, picture attached. There is also a pic of a cable that is coming out of that box that’s loose in the place, but also doesn’t fit anything that came with our hub. Any help greatly appreciated, Thanks.1.3KViews0likes4CommentsWhere is my wall socket?!
We are new to Scotland and we have just gotten the Virgin broadband Hub 3.0 so we can get connected to the internet. When we ordered the Hub we were told fibre was good for our rental, but we cannot find a plug anywhere around the house. Do we (or the landlord) need to get someone out to install something? Surely if it says the fibre is connected to this house it should be somewhere in the property, right? TYIA6.9KViews0likes2Commentsself-installation - no accessible socket?
Hi all, I just moved in yesterday and was all ready to go for my self-installation today. However I’ve just gone to plug in to a wall socket to realise the only virgin media labelled socket seems to be for the phone. There is a white section of a cable (as pictured) that I assume I’m meant to be using but I’m unable to detach it so I can attach the wall socket cable, if that makes sense? No matter how much I try to screw it out or gently pull it out, it won’t budge. I’d love to sort this myself without having to book an engineer in but is it doable? Thanks in advance! No Virgin Wall Socket
Hello, we received a quick start package as recommended by virgin media when we entered our address. An engineer was not assigned to install one so we assumed everything we needed was in the box, we received the box yesterday and are disappointed to find that we won’t be able to use it as we don’t have a virgin media wall socket anywhere in the house. We spent two hours trying to get through to customer services yesterday and will keep trying but can someone please advise on the best way for us to get an engineer to fit a socket as soon as possible?341Views0likes2Comments
