Nearly got an unwanted TV360 upgrade
I got an e-mail a few days ago saying the Virgin TV box I currently have is using old software, and needs upgrading. I thought this was referring to the old Tivo I have, as I recently tried to use iPlayer and was told this is no longer supported on that device. I was told I could upgrade to a new Virgin TV360 box at no extra cost. I'd assumed I was being offered a TV360 box to replace the Tivo, but wanted to investigate further, so I clicked on the link in the email expecting to get more detail of what the upgrade involved. Instead I was just taken straight to the package upgrade page with no obvious information on what I could expect from a TV360 upgrade. I had assumed the link was broken, and gave up. Imagine my surprise when today I have received an email saying I was getting an upgrade to a TV360 box, with a separate TV360 mini (which you can’t record onto), replacing the existing V6 and Tivo. It looks like simply clicking the link in the email fires off the upgrade process with-out any notification or confirmation! Having previously been offered a full TV360 upgrade, I know this wouldn’t fit with our lifestyle, so it’s not something I want to upgrade to. Fortunately I was able to contact support via the chat-bot and cancel the upgrade. I do think more clarity is needed as to what to expect from a TV360 upgrade, and I really don’t think it’s helpful to have the upgrade process triggered immediately when clicking on the link, without some form of "are you sure?” step!181Views2likes11CommentsEmail saying my TV box needs an upgrade
I just got an email with a heading that very much makes it sound like I do have a TV box that NEEDS an upgrade! The wording after this misleading heading however makes it clear that the box im using has old software and I can upgrade for free to the TV360 box. Now, I was offered this a while back and at the time it was all rush rush get the upgrade for free before we charge you. I ummed and ahhed and tried to upgrade via my tv as prompted but it kept saying error. Then I read comments on here about how user unfriendly it was and how many features were missing so im glad I failed! Duly, I forgot this experience! Until now... when I get this email! Its not a forced upgrade so my question is, really is it worth the hassle and faff? Comments here suggest not and that people regret switching! I dont want to lose my recordings either or series links!89Views0likes3CommentsV6 not recording during standby
I have recently had my V6 TV box upgraded via software to 360 and have also received a new remote. In the settings there is a standby mode with timings of 4,5,6 & 24hrs before the box will switch off if idle and hasn't detected any active device connected to it. This creates a problem if I want to set to record programmes further ahead of 24hrs as when I am away the box will switch off and will therefore not record the set programmes. There is no setting I can find to switch off standby mode. I recently changed the standby timer from 4 to 24hrs as I found the box switched off when idle and did not record any scheduled programmes. Switching to 24hrs has made no difference other than keep the box awake longer so increasing the possibility of detecting a signal from my TV when it is switched on. This is particularly irritating in that if I am away for more than 24hrs there is no certainty that any scheduled recordings will proceed. My tv has a standby mode which can be disabled why has this new 'improved' Virgin box not have the same facility. My current standby settings are active start, 24hrs. My 360 box is Arris-DCX960-MPA+. Please advise if there is a software issue or a possible fault with the box (please note there was no issue before the software upgrade). So I got swapped to "Virgin TV360" or whatever it is after having this V6 box for ages, which I was quite happy about tbh as it has some serious issues. Anyway, I got a new remote control in the mail. And no box. So we're sat here, and a week later the V6 box updates - all new software, I am guessing this is the 360 box software (which, apparently, works on anything lol) - box is much faster, and I do prefer the layout, but it doesn't turn on with either remote, I have to turn it on at the box which is actually kind of a pain. I do not have time to call, and it's impossible to find an email address that doesn't bounce back, is there someone here that can take my order number or name or whatever, and get my new box sent out please? It's funny it works on the old box, but it's still not flawless.101Views0likes6CommentsActivation
Hey, Why does it take so long for Virgin Media to update your TV and Broadband when you upgrade? For example, I upgraded my broadband, and that took 7 days before I received the speed that I ordered, and now I've just upgraded the TV, and that's taking 15 days. Why is this?91Views0likes5CommentsProblems with 360 upgrade
I have a V6 box and received the remote to upgrade to 360. The problem is that the new software was installed but is now stuck on the video about the Remote and use of 360. The remote won't work on the screen or to switch off the box. I can use the remote though to switch through sources and the TV button works. I have tried all the suggestion on this Forum for switching the box on and off at wall socket, and with On-Off switch coupled with the power and + and/or - button. I've also switched the internet off and on. Any suggestions?Solved152Views0likes5Comments360 upgrade and apps
So, as well as the discussed 'shortcomings' of the supposed 'upgrade' (I wish I could go back to my V6 but apparently you cannot), is there a way to get rid of the 'bloatware' apps? Also, can I add my own apps? Or, are we to just accept that Virgin Media and their owners know better and I am paying for a service that I never agreed to? i.e. most apps I do not use, and you cannot hide/arrange any of them. Please do not tell me sure your most used apps are at the bottom and if you could just scroll past the stuff they are trying to sell me, or tell me to just speak into the device (I do not want to nor feel I should). Why not put the most used apps at the top? Almost like they want you to waste time/effort in passing apps that I might sign up for - no chance. I also feel l like I have been 'duped' into the upgrade...subject: "Your TV box needs an upgrade". Also, feel mis-sold on the 'you aren't getting the most out of your services". Is there a way to cancel a contract early on the basis of a degradation of service? Anyway, its that bad an experience I will not be renewing when my contract ends in December of this year.138Views0likes6Comments360 Mini Box - CS1011
I have just upgraded my V6 box to 360 - all OK although a few issues with pairing the remote I am in the process of replacing my current TIVO box with a 360 Mini as part of the same upgrade. Hardware installed but once the box has been connected to my WiFI is has 'hung' for around 10 mins then issues error code CS1011 - Unable to retrieve your account details Can this be resolved without resorting to calling support? CheersSolved159Views0likes2CommentsSecond box recordings continually buffer
I've seen a few discussions similar to this issue, but some have just tailed off and others look like they may have switched to DM - I've not seen it be successfully resolved, but hoping there is a magic cure somewhere. Last year we 'upgraded' our virgin TV V6 box to the 360 thing, and had our upstairs multiroom box changed to one of the slimmer box versions, I think people call it the 'slave' box. This second box is almost unusable when it comes to recordings. It is constantly buffering every 10-15 seconds, often tells me the system is too busy etc. I've run WiFi speed checks via the connect app, all OK. I have a firestick up here using the same connections, all OK. The apps on the same box all work OK! The only element that has an issue with the WiFi capacity is the recording. Oh, and the virgin TV Go app which is just as poor and flaky as the second box and also constantly claims there are issues with the WiFi. It seems like this is just shoddy products? We have no ethernet cable running up to the bedroom, and I'm slightly loathe to run a cable all the way up. But it seems like this 'upgrade' is actually rubbish and a poorer service. Has anyone been able to actually resolve this issue whilst still connecting via WiFi?105Views0likes4Comments
