Targeting Advertising during advertising breaks

Is there any way to reset what adverts I receive on the TV? I’m being plagued with insurance adverts and cremation adverts at the moment and I have to mute every ad break. I’ve checked my settings but I can’t seem to reset my advertisement profile. I know this is an option on Sky. I’m sick of being sold travel insurance and then if I die on holiday I can be quickly cremated in the UK... There is no reason for me to receive these adverts. I’m only 41. Can someone point me in the right direction? Many thanks

  • The cremation and insurance industries are big TV advertising spenders, they're likely to be the standard ads that everyone sees rather than anything specifically aimed at you, as targeted advertising on linear TV channels is extremely limited compared to advertising on streaming based services.

Only a small number of channels use Sky's AdSmart system (which is also available on Virgin) and it's not possible to reset it in any way. Sky customers can disable it but not sure about Virgin.

Those adverts are most shown during daytime programmes which are most watched by elderly people.  Best to record them and zap through the ads.

You've posted in the 360 forum so try Settings > Info > Tailored ads

That setting has been available since software version 5.22 was introduced a couple of months ago.

That option can be turned On or Off, although I don't think it will make much difference to the type of ads eg travel insurance, cremation etc being shown as the same ads appear on terrestrial TV too often as well.

You could also try resetting Advertising ID under tyhe Info section too, although that seems to be concerned with the types of ads and how often they are shwon when using individual apps.
