Access to an old Virgin Media blue yonder email account

Around a month ago I was forced out of my blueyonder.co.uk account with no notice. I was asked to reset my email account address password via my VM account as I was unable to remember the previous password however my account seems to have been blocked from access. I am no further forward despite several chats with agents via WhatsApp and need help as all my important documents are on this account (mortgage, bank etc) and I’m not able to change the passwords on these due to having no access - I’m stuck in a frustrating (lack of) access cycle. I was on the 'phone with Virgin a few days back discussing several things and the call handler said "by the way, in about 18 months we are discontinuing blueyonder email addresses. You'll have to create a Gmail account". She couldn't give an exact date of the cut-off or any more details. I switched to "New" Outlook on my Windows 10 PC to read my VM blueyonder emails (plus gmail and outlook email accounts) months ago and all working perfectly until today. I have new emails in webmail but they are not appearing in Outlook. In addition when I create a new email in Outlook it will not send and any I try to send from VM webmail do not arrive in Outlook. I have checked all email settings. I tried to manage the blueyonder account in Outlook and selected Repair. Outlook came back with the message Unable to connect to your provider. The mail app on my phone kept saying there was no password in the settings for my blueyonder account, even though there was. I tried inputting any possible passwords it could be but it wasn't accepting them. I then tried to reset my password on my laptop but it was saying it didn't recognise my email address. Hi, my primary email address of username@blueyonder.co.uk was hacked not long after I received an extortion email a week ago telling me to pay up to avoid compromising photos of me being distributed to my accounts. Worryingly, the email included the genuine password for my email account. I've changed My Virgin Media password and the password for the client app I normally use to access my emails. I'm not sure if this change feeds through to my webmail password. The Virgin Media site says it doesn't but an agent says it does. My hacked email has been used to access my Etsy and Ebay accounts - I've arranged for these to be closed. I've also set up active forwarding on my username@blueyonder.co.uk account but some has used it to access my Shopify account. I've now closed it. So my email address is floating about on the internet ripe for misuse. Ideally I would like to delete my blueyonder email address but I understand I can only do this if I cancel all my Virgin Media services. Is there no way of replacing it with a virginmedia.com address? Also, how can I be sure the blueyonder.co.uk webmail address has been changed and so avoid it being hacked again? I have a blueyonder email account which I have had for over 30 years. I was unable to receive or send emails and hte following error message appeared : "There was a problem signing in to your account. Enter your password again. If you've changed your password recently, make sure you enter the new password" I login to my blueyonder emails primarily on my PC and when I'm out on my mobile (via Microsoft Outlook). I followed the instructions on the virgin website: (i) created a new password - tried several times - failed (ii) used a new email address to login into my account to access my emails on line - tried several times - failed Called customer services and after 3 days they contacted me and I was able to log on to my blueyonder email on line using a gmail address online. I am unable to download my blueyonder emails to my PC using Microsoft Outlook 2010 or to Office 365. My partner also has a blueyonder email address on the same home account and they are not facing any difficulties. I called customer services once again and was promised that someone would call the next day and 5 days later no response! I need to be able to continue to download the emails from blueyonder.co.uk to outlook and asked if the SMTP and POP3 had changed as I had been unable to download emails since the 9th May 2024. She said she did not know what I was talking about and did not know how to resolve my issue and would contact me. Is there anyone else having similar difficulties with their blueyonder emails? How did you resolve it? I forgot to mention, the reason why I need to use Microsoft Outlook as opposed to the online version of the blueyonder account is that I have learning difficulties/disability and I use outlook to help me organise my inbox , set rules, colour coding etc which the blueyonder online does not offer. Hi, Please help. I am unable to access my old original Blueyonder email mailboxes via web - mail.virginmedia.com. No passwords or changes have been made by myself at my end. This problem started occurring within the last week. I have had no communications in these mailboxes about any proposed changes. Every access attempt results in a password error. I have tired multiple browsers with/without incognito mode and devices. To no avail. Unable to reset password on the page, it goes into a loop and nothing is clear. I have a new Virgin Media BB account, but not sure if the old email accounts were ever linked. Its an original Blueyonder address with 4 stub accounts. I am not sure where to go to reset/administer these. I am still able to send/receive email to these BY addresses via email client on mobile using IMAP/SMTP with the same existing passwords. Please help, I need access to these mailboxes and going forward maybe have them linked to my new BB account so I can administer these and avoid any future potential issues like this. Hi, my old email account [MOD EDIT: Removed] has been hacked. I can't log in anymore with the password that has been working for years. I have imap set up on the Thunderbird client which was successfully logging in and until today. Recent phishing emails in thunderbird state that my email has been hacked and they have stated my password for that email account also which is also very concerning. I've changed my passwords on all my other apps etc but I obviously can log into this email. As i understand it, the VM team can help delete my account. I have had my blueyonder email address for about 15 years, and I understand it is linked to my parents VM account for broadband/ TV which I will need to keep that way to avoid the account being orphaned. A month ago I stopped being able to access my emails from the web page, getting the Forbidden 403 error. This happened across multiple devices (2 laptops and a phone). I have the MFA set up, and changed my login email address a few months ago when prompted. I am still receiving my emails on my phone, where my blueyonder email is accessed by my Gmail app, but fear that it is only a matter of time before something will happen and they stop syncing too. I have already started changing as many logins as possible to a different email address but it would be good if I could just access my email from the web again, so I can set up email forwarding in case, and VM delivered the service which I have signed up for!533Views0likes1Comment
