Email App Passwords Suddenly Stop Working
I have been using the Outlook email client to access my virgin media email for a long time. I have changed the app password using the 4-hyphenated password generated under the account details tab several times successfully. Over the last few days the password stopped working and my attempts at using a new app password have failed. When I run the command line prompt: curl -v smtps://smtp.virginmedia.com -u mailto:"username":"app password", I receive the response 235 2.7.0 SMTP350 Authentication successful for user... The only other explanation could be that my IP address has been blocked by the server. However I can access my emails via the Virgin media website. So 2 questions: 1: Why does my app password spontaneously stop working? 2: How can I reconnect via the Outlook app, given that repeated app password changes are not working? Many thanks.286Views0likes16CommentsManaging multiple @blueyonder.co.uk accounts
I have an active Virgin Media account (I'm a broadband customer), and for years have had four @blueyonder.co.uk email addresses used by myself and three other family members associated with that account. All four accounts are regularly used. After the transition to VMO2, I've linked my new VMO2 ID to my Virgin Media account. I'm able to manage my (the primary) @blueyonder.co.uk email account app password through https://www.virginmediao2.co.uk/identity/id-settings/my-accounts using ID Settings->Virgin Media Account->Manage email app password. However, I can't see any way to manage the @blueyonder.co.uk email accounts used by my other family members (e.g. to change the app password). Some of those family members have their own VMO2 IDs (because they're O2 mobile customers), but unless I'm wrong it doesn't seem possible to link those IDs to the single common household Virgin Media account which I manage, and hence there seems no way for those members to manage their own @blueyonder.co.uk app password. Help! Surely there must be a way to do this.159Views0likes9CommentsSigh. Cannot connect via Gmail "blacklisted IP Address"
Tonight, emails to my Blueyonder address stopped coming through my Gmail app. To connect I use VM's POP3 settings which they seem happy to keep messing about with. Now I am getting: "Authentication error. Server returned error "[AUTH] Temporarily blacklisted IP Address - try again later" I've tried with/without VPN. I've tried through mobile hotspot. I've tried getting a new password via Manage email app password process. I've tried both my B/Y and Gmail email addresses. Any ideas?Solved552Views8likes20CommentsOutlook won't connect to IMAP
Hi, Today, my blueyonder.co.uk email stopped syncing in Outlook (on a Windows 11 Laptop). I removed the account in Outlook and tried to set it up again as IMAP. Outlook says 'Waiting for you Email Provider' and then it fails with the message 'Sign in failed. Please try again in a few minutes. You may need an app password'. I am using the app password. In fact, I went into My Virgin Media and created a new app password to use. I can access the emails on my android phone and tablet using this new app password, but it is only failing in Outlook. If I then click on 'Troubleshoot', it shows the error code INVALIDCREDENTIALS TEMPORARILYUNAVAILABLE. I have a business email account (via another provider) and that is connected tOutlook fine via IMAP, so it is an issue with Virgin. Anyone know what is going on? Thanks.Solved1.5KViews7likes46CommentsBlueyonder emails no longer working
Ok, what's changed guys and what are we expected to do to resolve it or are you rolling back your change since its broken everything ? I have multiple email accounts (@blueyonder.co.uk) and they are all no longer working, not only that but i can't log onto your portal. My entire life uses these email addresses and is going to be a major, if possible at all, task to get myself sorted out with other email accounts, really not viable at all. I have been with you guys since telewest, so a very very long time. Can somebody get back to me asap please with a fix, explanation of this change and also why i wasn't even aware of something so drastic it warrantied a letter in advance. Guess i will be sitting pressing F5 since i ain't gonna get an email notification of a reply am i..... I get this message when i try to log onto your email service via a web browser, the one thats linked from www.virginmedia.com/myvmo2/home Your Virgin Media Mail account is currently unavailable This is either because your Virgin Media Mail account is locked, or because you don’t have an active account with us anymore. All was find before but I am now having issues with my virginmedia email account via Outlook. I can't receive or sent emails anymore. I have rechecked the settings and they were fine and I also created a new app password but to no success. The only difference that I've noticed is in Outlook the settings default the incoming server as imap4.blueyonder.co.uk and so I chose the use recommended settings toggle switch which it changes it to imap.virginmedia.com making all the settings as they should be but the problem has not be resolved.1.2KViews0likes16Comments- 256Views0likes11Comments
Prohibited word use reseting password
My Blueyonder e-mail, which has been working fine for years, just stopped accepting my password. I have received no communication from Virgin Media stating that it is time to reset my password or providing any other explanation for this. I tried to reset my password, and I continually get the "Prohibited Word used" for every password I try. Whoever designed this reset interface needs to go back to college and learn about user interface design and user experience. At no point is any advice given as to what a password should be. I have tried all manner of combinations based on other posts on this forum. Yes, my password starts with a letter (not documented anywhere on the form). Yes, I have an uppercase and a lowercase letter. Yes, I have a number. Yes, it is between 8 and 64 characters. No, it does not contain any easy-to-guess words. No, it is not a reused password. Somebody explain how ANYBODY is supposed to reset their password using an interface like this?54Views0likes2CommentsBlueyonder email password reset
